Surnames: Labelle,
Hi -

I'm just wondering if anyone has used the site archives.com before? They're claiming to have a record of my grandfather William Labelle's divorce decree, which I haven't been able to find on here, but I don't want to spend more money for another site. Anyone been there and think it's worth it?

Thanks!
Samantha

I signed up for a year but cancelled at three hours. The impressive initial search which showed my personal information was probably picked up by partering with Intellius or similar company BUT their own search engine would not make a hit on anything I tried or just referred me to Footnote.com

I'm trying another site Worldvitalrecords.com which has been good so far but I cannot download a whole book like I can with google books. I have to read through or use a search feature or use a webpage saver like Screenhunter or Fireshot. I've found more with good Google searches than I could find at Ancestry. Most of the best information is out there for free.

All the best
Robert

I wish that were true in my case! I can't seem to find anything without ancestry, other than birth and death records, which are available at my local history center.

I took a look at worldvitalrecords.com, but every time I try to see a result, they prompt me to purchase a membership, which I don't want to do. I hope you have better luck with them!

Though not a genealogy website, I have had "some" luck using www.altavista.com to find snip-its of help. Better than Google, I think.
