Surnames: Griffin, Griffin
My great-grandfather Evington Fort Griffin was born in Union Parish in 1850. His mother was Permelia Griffin (maiden name unknown) and his father was James or possibly Fort, or something else. There were 4 other children: Francis Marion, George, William and a daughter. The daughter, name unknown, stayed in Louisiana. The father left the family before 1870 and went to Texas. Permelia and Francis Marion, George and William were in Anderson Co. Texas by 1870. In 1870 Evington Fort was married and in Wilcox Co. Alabama. In 1879 Evington Fort and his family moved to Anderson Co. Texas. Francis Marion married a girl named Delaware Funderburk in 1871, her family had come to Texas from Union Parish. Francis Marion, his wife and his two younger brothers George and William died and Permelia returned to Louisiana and lived with her daughter until her death. Do any of these names sound familiar to anyone? I would appreciate any help anyone could provide.
Thanks, Judy
