SHEFFIELD -- Richard M. "Rico" Cook, 47, of Maple Avenue died Thursday at the Veterans' Hospital in Albany, N.Y.

Born in Bay Amon, Puerto Rico, on March 17, 1952, son of Ammon M. and Laley Cruz Cook, he moved to Miami as an infant and graduated from Miami Edison High School. He also attended a technical school to study as an electrician.

He served in the Army in Vietnam from 1968 to 1973.

Mr. Cook was employed as a chef at local restaurants, retiring from Caesar's Shed in 1998.

He was a member of James A. Modolo post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Great Barrington.

He leaves a daughter, Roxana Cook of Grand Cayman Island, British West Indies.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Richard M. "Rico" Cook will be today, Sunday, Nov. 28, at 7 p.m., at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME, Great Barrington, with the Rev. Frederick R. Heberle officiating. Military rites will be conducted by members of the James A. Modolo post, VFW. Burial will be held later this week at a date to be announced.
