Thomas Kendrick/Kenwrick DAR Lookup

Surnames: KENDRICK, KENWRICK
I have information from the History of Harwich, Barnstable Co., MA by Josiah Paine that Thomas Kendrick was sergeant in Capt. Elijah Small's company under Col. Zenas Winslow in September, 1778 on a ship off the coast of Harwich, MA, yet I find no mention of him when I search ancestors on the DAR website. Can you tell me what that means and what are the next steps to proving him as a Rev. War Patriot?

Thanks,

Michele

The patriot ancestors listed on the DAR site are those proven as to service and ancestry by at least one woman joining DAR. There were many patriots who left no descendants, and a huge number who have not had a female descendant join DAR after proving service and relationship.

DAR is a lineage membership organization. While proving service and life-path of a patriot might possibly be interesting enough to be the subject of an article deemed worthy of publication in the DAR Magazine, a patriot of interest to DAR would nearly always be one under whose record a proven female descendant submitted an application for DAR membership.

If you are a descendant of this person and wish to join DAR under his service, your first step would be to contact your nearest DAR chapter, where there should be a person assigned to assist prospective members -- and can give you details on what is required for proof of service and proof of descent from him.
