I am trying to find where my relative Edward R. Hillis died. He was born 16 APR 1851 in Seneca Co., Ohio. He married Mary Rogers and they divorced. In family notes: "Mr. Edward Hillis came to Attica, Ohio on Dec. 24, 1908 and left Jan. 1909. He will be 58 years old the 16th day of April.
His present address is Gillstrap, South Dakota. when he changes it will be Edmonton, Canada."

I am trying to find where he died. I think he died between 1908 and before the 1910 census since I cannot find him in the census. Is there any record in Canada for him in 1910 or of his death/obiruary??

I have been trying to find where he died for over 25 years. His daughter married Fietta Ulis who lived in Canada for a few years.

Hi, Is there proof that Edward R. HILLIS did come to Edmonton Alberta Canada - after 1909?

Search of City Directories - for the time frame 1908 - forward - Henderson. Wigleys etc - are Criss Cross Directories - show name to address - address to name - also may show occupation. The directory also lists businesses.

You know the mane of the daughter [ married to Fietta ULIS] When? - Where ? Perhaps there may be information - obituary etc.?

Have you searched Border Crossing Records - Canada to USA?
Have you searched U.S.Census.?

There is a mention of Mable (sister of Charles Freed) and Edward Hillis and family Cora, Etta, Edward, Gertrude and Eunice in this book. It doesn't sound like your story, except that it mentions a relative Sam ULIS.

"In 1915, the Hillis family returned to Michigan to take over a farm his family had inherited from a uncle there."

OK, the Edward in the story above is too young, born 1884 according to the 1911 Census. Could this be a son (or nephew) of your Edward R. born 1851?
