Robert H. Pfledderer, 85
FRANCESVILLE -- Robert H. Pfledderer, 85, of 420 S. Bill St., died at 1:51 a.m. Saturday, June 3, 2006, at Porter Valparaiso Hospital Campus.
Born May 5, 1921, in Francesville, he was the son of the late George and Marie Remm Pfledderer. He married Norma L. Kahler on June 26, 1948, in Francesville. She survives.
Mr. Pfledderer was a farmer and a brick mason. He formerly served on the Francesville town board.
He was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church and American Legion, both in Francesville, and he did volunteeer masonary work on churches. He served as a sergeant in the Army during World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star by Gen. George Patton.
Surviving with his wife are four daughters, Lona S. Hudson (husband: Kent) of Metamora, Ill., Linda K. Gutwein (husband: Stephen) of Francesville, Lorene L. Furrer (husband: Brian) of Reynolds and Lisa M. Knobloch (husband: Keith) of Wyoming, Ill.; a son, Larry R. Pfledderer (wife: Darlene) of Francesville; four sisters, Marie Spaeth, Ann Henzler and Donna Faris, all of Rensselaer, and Jeanette Zaring of Monticello; and two brothers, Adam Pfledderer of Francesville and Raymond Pfledderer of Crown Point.
Visitation 1-8 p.m. (CDT), 2-9 p.m. (EDT), Monday, June 5, 2006, at Querry-Ulbricht Funeral Home, Francesville, and at Apostolic Christian Church, Francesville, 1 hour prior to the service at 9:30 a.m. (CST), 10:30 a.m. (EDT), Tuesday, June 6, 2006, ministers of the church officiating. American Legion military graveside service at Roseland Cemetery, Francesville. Surviving are 21 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by 6 brothers, 3 sisters, and a son-in-law, Dr. Stephen K. Elsasser. He enjoyed helping others through volunteer masonary work on many churches.
