I am trying to track down the burial or cremation of Christine Barton (nee Pile). She was born in Dover on 23rd September 1948 and she died in December 1987. She married Alec D Barton in September 1971 in Dover Kent. If anyone knows the exact date she died and where she is buried or if she was cremated I would be very grateful. Thank you.

Hi

Her death record doesn't appear on 'deceased online'

The simplest way to find her exact date of death is to order a copy of her death certificate - it costs £9.25 and usually takes about a week.

Order here: https://www.gov.uk/order-copy-birth-death-marriage-certifica...

Quote registration district Dover, date of registration December 1987, volume no. 16, page no. 1206, reg no. 1287.

Details from her death certificate may well give clues as to her place of burial/cremation. Good luck!

In all probability, the death certificate would not help to ascertain a place of burial or cremation. The main reason for that is that a death has to be registered before funeral arrangements can be finalised. Additionally, a death is registered in the district where it occurred, which is not necessarily the deceased's normal place of residence. Then, the family might arrange for burial/cremation in another locality that has some family significance. It is also possible that a crematorium (if there was a cremation in this case) other than that normally associated with a particular area was used - because the family had reason to hold the funeral earlier than was possible at the 'usual' crematorium, or because the 'usual' crematorium was temporarily out of use for technical reasons.
