Interestd in any information from anyone researching
the McDonalds who were part of the 1786 settlers from
scotland to Glengarry Ont. Especially concession 7
lots 17 and 18.
Thanks for the quick responce. The concession & lot no's
I mentioned are in Lancaster. I have been working with
birth's marriages & deaths records from St. Raphael's and
also with the Diary of Death's and Thyes & Mass's from
the same sources. I also have the Ontario census for 1851,
1861 and 1871. I am on a trail I believe to be mine,
Archibald McDonald(1865-1918) s/o Donald R McDonald(1831-1905) and Mary McDougald s/oRanald McDonald(1786-?) s/o
Angus(c1755-?) and Rachael s/o Norman(c1730) s/o Angus(c1700) etc.... I think this may be right but I am still looking for more supporting information to prove or disprove
and get it researched with supporting documentation.
Let me know where you stand with your study
Glengarry MacDonalds - 1786
You say Concession 7, lots 17 and 18. Was this in Lancaster or Charlottenburgh? I am also interested in the emigration of 1786. I found a lot of information in Marianne McLean's book, the People of Glengarry and her references at the back of the book are excellent as well.
But basically it is the overall history of the time and I wonder if one went to her sources for the book if names and information about these emigrants would be found.
My 3rd great grandfather was a Rory MacDoanld(~1815-)
who came out
from Knoydart Scotland with early settlers and settled
near St Raphaels. His parents were John(Ian) and Rebecca
MacGillivray. He later married Mary "Reddy Money"
MacDonald, they had a toll bridge at the Quebec Border.
Acccording to Alex Fraser they lived at Lot 16 Conc 6
Lancaster.They had 8 children Catherine(Donald Bethune),
Christie,John(MaryAnn Martin),Ranald(Agnes Thompson-Glen Roy),Dan(Margery McIntosh-This is my line)
Please contact directly if you
think there may be a connection.I will be going to Alexandria Registry office in near future to see if I can find
any wills for this family.

George D. McDonald, Kenyon c. 1860
I've done a lot of surfing but so far I haven't been able to find the parents or siblings of my great-grandfather George D. McDonald, born in Kenyon, Glengarry County, c. 1860. Any help would be much appreciated.
My grandmother Catherine Bethune Stewart who was born in Dunvegan, Ontario in 1862, had a brother named Donald Bethune who was born in 1864 in Dunvegan and died in 1926.
Re: Archibald Ban McDonald
Am looking for Archibald Ban Mcdonald, married a Catherine Mcdonald, father of Catherine, Archibald & Angus (?). May have been at Lot 24, 4th concession, Township Lancaster. My mother always referred to her maternal grandfather as Archibald Ban. I have a picture (abt. 1905) of him - very large man. Please respond to email@example.com
Hello - I'm wondering if you have any further information regarding Catherine McDonald and Farquhar McRae. The McRae's I'm looking for I believe were on Lot #2, Concession #7 in Charlottenburgh and they had 8 children Isabella, John, Duncan, Christopher, Nancy (or Mary), Catherine, Donald and Janet. Thankyou.
Re: MacDonalds of Glengarry
I am searching for the parents of Ronald/Ranald McDonald b. Canada about 1835. He married Margaret McCuaig May 1868
at St. Polycarpe.
We know that in the family bible stands the names of William Archie McGillevray from Invernishire Scotland as great grandfather, also listed is Catherine McIntosh as great grandmother.
Could there be a connection.
