do Eli Ammons, Josh Ammons, Jane Ryan, Walter and Amelia mean anything to you, in town of Streator Illinois perhaps. I have a lot of ammons's on a paper and when my sister in laws come to visit in a few weeks they will help me dechipher relationships. Husband's father was Eugene Joshua and he had 8 siblings. Eli Ammons in our family was killed in 1956 in a car accident in Illinois

Greetings from Streator,
A gentleman in Streator is listing the obituaries that were published in the Streator newspaper. For the Mar. 2, 1888 Weekly Free Press, he lists an obituary for Eli Ammons, aged 67. The burial was made in Barnhart Cemetery. I have one of the tombstone inventories for Bazore-Barnhart and only one Ammons is listed: Frankie P. died 1864, aged 3 yrs, 4 mos, 27 das.
Do you happen to know if Eli was indeed buried in Bazore-Barnhart cemetery? What happened to Jane, his wife? Did she die in Iowa? I only have the obituary list to 1889 at home.
The 1870 Census lists: Eli, aged 48 and Jane aged 38; with Mary, aged 13; Delia/Della, aged 7; Elizabeth, aged 4; and Joshua, aged 1. The 1880 census list Jane's age as 41, Eli's as 58. Only Della and Joshua were still at home.

Mrs. Solomon (Elizabeth) Ammons is buried in Moon's Point with daughter? Lucinda.

Could you scan a copy of the obit and e-mail it to me?
Jane RYAN AMMONS died in Thayer, IL 4 Mar 1902. She is said to be buried in Bruce TWP, La Salle Co but don't have cem name. In daughter Josephines obit 1859-1941 just one brother is living, Josh AMMONS of MILLINGTON. She is buried in Staunton, IL.
I fine that Eli's brother Henry is the one that went to Iowa. There was also a brother Isaac. H. some told me Eli also went to Iowa at one point but came back to IL.

Sorry, I don't have a copy of the obit, just a list of obituaries. I will not be able to get one until about April. My leg is in a cast (torn a tendon in my ankle) and the public library has this huge amount of steps. However, the Streator Public Library on Park Street will make a copy for you. I think they charge $1.00 plus postage if you send them the date and paper. March 2, 1888, Streator Free Press Weekly-Monday.

Just noticed on 1902 list an obit for Jane Ammons, dated March 5, 1902 in the Streator Free Press Daily paper.
There is a I. H. Ammons(1830-1913) and wife Susan (1832-1898)buried in Riverview. I. H.'s stone mentions Henshaw's Battery, Isaac was in Henshaw's Battery from 1863-1864 so it is probably him.
Found a couple other families:
William B. Ammons (1819-1976), married? Miley and buried in Ancona Cemetery. Also Mary E. Ammons (1858-1878)buried in Ancona Cemetery.
Mrs. Elizabeth Ammons(1817-1914) husband of Solomon? was buried in Moon's Point Cemetey south of Streator. Children:?? Luvernia (Charles Bickerton), Dora (Zeb Skaggs), Nicholas, Lucinda (1847-1867), Christena Ellen (Josiah Woolford). Lucinda and Christena are buried in Moon's Point.
I don't have any obits for these people, the info comes from tombstone inventories.
