My father (Pat Fonoti Reid/Marvin Frederick Patrick Reid) lives in Apia, but I rarely get to speak with him. I am trying to research his family history but I do not know enough about his father Cecil Reid. If anyone has any info about George Henry Charles (m. to Luisa Letapie?) or his son Cecil (my grandfather, m. to Jane Laussen?) please let me know. Fa'afetai Lava, Margaret

Hi Margaret,
My grandmother is Clara Reid who was born and raised in Apia. My father, Max Young, has done a huge Reid family tree dating way back and I believe Cecil Reid is the brother of my great grandfather, Robert Reid. Our family and most of my grandmothers brothers and sisters are now living in New Zealand. We had a Reid eunion this year which was awesome! Great to meet new cousins :) Get back if you can.
Merry christmas

Hello Margaret
I know you posted your request some years ago but I was just looking up some Samoan history and came across your message. I am related to Renee Young and Max Young is my first cousin. My father Robert Reid is the son of Robert Reid snr whose father was Edgar Reid and Cecil was Edgar's brother.
I am also interested in knowing a bit more ancestral heritage and plan to contact Max Young to check his historical records with him. I would be so interested to know how you and your family link with ours.

I was feeling inspired to research more on my dad's (Marvin Frederick Patrick Reid) side of the family and my sister is actually Margaret who posted the first message in 1999. Haha! I did a search on ANCESTRY.ORG and there is only basic information on GHC Reid and his children. Thanks to all of you for the extra information and websites. I did not know that GHC was buried in Apia but I travel to Apia often for vacation and am currently living in American Samoa. I also attended a Reid reunion in Los Angeles back in 2006-2007 and it was great to meet other Reid family members that I have kind of been estranged from my whole life. I hope to be able to meet all of you guys someday.

Mabel Taosoga Reid (Hawaii)
Margaret Reid (Japan)
Rachel Va'asa Reid (North Carolina)
Patrick Ti'auliva'a Reid (myself, American Samoa)

Thanks for the websites JBFONOTI! :) I actually found where my name Ti'auliva'a and my sister's middle name Va'asa came from through the King Fonoti geneology. Amazing! I'm so happy to be able to do this research and I hope to be able to create a bigger family tree and connect the dots for my dad's Reid side of the family! Hope to meet you guys someday.
