My surname is Arndell. I am trying to find out if I have any relatives left. I am 37 years of age and have never met any of my relatives. My father is Claude Justin Arndell who married Sadie Elaine Wilson Apr 6, 1963. Please email any information you may have. I have one brother and two sisters that would also love information on our family name.

My surname is also Arndell and my family is from Butler & Muhlenberg Co., KY. I haven't found the link to coming over to the US, so depending on where you live I may have some information for you. The only real concentration in the US seems to be in that area.

Dear Debie,
My 3 x greats grandfather is Thomas Arndell, who came to Australia on the First Fleet in 1788 as an Assistan Surgeon. A family legend has existed forever that he has the proverbial blue blood in his veins; I have reseached the elusive Thomas for more than 30 years and have writen two books on his English background. He was born in Kington, Herefordshire, son of a Malster, went to London when he was 14, married, had 7 children and one illegitimate daughter. When he came ot Sydney he co-habited with a convict and they had another 7 children, they married between the births of their 6th and 7th children. Quite a colourful life.

Best wishes,

Marge Raven (Sydney)

Dear Sandra,
Could you be descended from Thomas Arndell who came to New South Wales on the First Fleet?

Is your grandfather Mose 'Wilson' Arndell (21 Oct 1913-15 Sep 1946 both Muhlenberg Co., KY) m. 31 Aug 1939 Muhl. Co. to Emma Marie Rager? I corresponded with your grandfather's brother, Thomas Woodrow, before he died. I feel the same way about not knowing other Arndells. We left Kentucky when I was fairly young and I never got a chance to meet many others.

Your research sounds fascinating and well done, but did Thomas' descendants come to the U.S.? Do you know of any connections?

Surnames: Arndell
Not to my knowledge, he was born Kington, Herefordshire, England, and came to Australia on the First Fleet, 1788, as an Asssitant Surgeon. (Actually he was an Apothecary) Left a family in England and eventually married his 'convict consort' who also came on the First Fleet and had 7 more children - he was a 'bit of a lad', did not have the proverbial blue blood veins that his descendants wanted.
I have written 2 books on his English background and a booklet on his life in Australia.

Best wishes, Marjorie Rven
