Baldino Family

My father is Anthony Baldino, born in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. His parents Giorgio Baldino (b. ? d. 1924) and Pasqualina Peschetta (b. 23 March 1883 d. 23 April 1941) came from San Giorgio la Molara, Italy and had four other children; Nick, Paul, Vivien(Ermatinger), and Victoria (Collard).
Giorgio's parents were: Nick (Nicolo Baldino (b. 1849 d. 1899) and Vinzenze(?) D'Agostino (b. 1839? d. 1927 Pasqualina's parents were: Paul(Paulo) Peschetta (b.1837 d. 1922) and Georzia (?) Carretti (b.1833 d. 1928)
I do not have formal verification of these relatives but have pieced this together from many sources. My dad has cousins named Vorase who lived in Detroit and I do have some information on them. I am looking for any information on any of the above people or anyone connected to them. I am also looking for possibly 2 brothers (one may be named Sam) of Giorgio who may have settled in the Chicago area. I am currently awaiting microfilm from Utah which may identify some of the relatives born in Italy, the records are from the town, San Giorgio la Molara, and include birth, marriage, and death records.

In particular response to Liz Hubbard, my grandfather was Sam Baldino and he had several brothers and sisters: Mary, Betty, Catherine, George. He died in 1986. I don't know much about our ancestry. Clearly he wasn't one of Giogio's brothers, but I suppose it's possible there's a connection.

The name of my great great grandfather was Anthony Baldino, he was married to an Angela. They had a son named Richard (maybe more children don't know). Richard had two wives, with the first he had a daughter Loretta, I know nothing of the other children. I am only at the start of my search and have very little information to offer. My family is from the Chicagoland area. I was told that Richard had to change his name.

I realize it's been a couple of years since your message posted. However, I just found it. My maiden name is Vorase. I am from the Detroit area. My father is Robert Vorase, son of Raphael Vorase. He had almost no contact with his family so I know very little. I do know that we had an 'Uncle Ed Schaefer' who lived near Sault Ste. Marie. I would love to track down family. Thanks!

My Wife's family (Lamontagne) has a who would have been my grandfather-in-law Ed Schaefer who married an Antoinette Marion Vorase after her original husband Victor Lamontagne passed away. Antionette was born may 28,1910 in Sault Ste Marie and was daughter of Joseph Vorase and Pellegrino (Pearl) Peschetta.

Antoinette Marion was my aunt (my mother's sister). I never knew her by the name of Antoinette. We all called her (Aunt) Marion. Marion's six sisters lived in Detroit and surrounds (she also had two brothers). Marion and Ed Schaefer lived in Stephenson, Mich. in the upper peninsula, and it was a great treat to visit Ed and Marion at their farm. I remember Ed very well (probably saw him last in 1956). Ed passed away before Marion, who died in 1983. Marion's two sons (Ed's stepsons) are my cousins, although I no longer know their whereabouts. Marion and her brothers and sisters are all deceased with the exception of one living sister who will be 100 years old this year (2011). I remember meeting and playing with a girl maybe a little younger than myself who may have been a relative of Ed's. My recollection is that she had had polio--I don't recall her name.

Is Pellegrina Peschetta the sister of Pasqualina (m. Giorgio Baldino)? I assume so since Pellegrina is listed on the ship passenger lists along with Giorgio in 1908, he is listed as a non-immigrant there so perhaps he escorted Pearl and her sons to America?
