My grandfather's name is Albert Bouvy, married to either Mary Margaret or Margaret Mary Gall. I can never remember which. All of my aunts & uncles are deceased, and my father doesn't remember much, as he was only 4 when his mom died. I know the family came from Alcase/Lorraine France, and I believe they originated in Belgium. If anyone has any information that could help me I would appreciate it. I have the names of my aunts/uncles but no one remembers beyond my grandfather.

I am researching a family of Bouvy that immigrated to the US From Lombach, Lorraine, France Jacques (Jacob) Bouvy. I know he was born in 1869 and had a sister Barbe (Barbara) Bouvy Metz; my grandmother. Barbe and John (Jean Sebastien) Metz immgrated in 1885 according to 1910 census and several of their children were born in PA. John was a glass blower and moved to Illinois and continued in that trade.

What year was your grandfather born? Have you searched for funeral home records? newspaper clippings, city directories?

Jacques (jacob) Bouvy was born in Lambach on Sept 4, 1869, son of Henri of Catherine Petit. (he is the brother of Barbe petit, who maried John Sebastien Metz).

He married in first marriage Elisabeth (born in Pennsylvania) and in second mariage Margaret Fahey (born in England). According to a 1910 census they live in Mount Oliver, Pittsburgh. The name is spelled "Bouby". The children are Casper (*10.1893), Elisabeth (*06.1894), Albert (*03.1897), Harry (*08.1898), Katherine (*about 1902).

Do you know that John Sebastien Metz had two brothers who also emigrated and lived in Alton: Sebastien Michel emigrated 1896; Joseph emigrated 1903. he also had a sister Anne who emigrated to Pittsburgh. I have the censuses showing them.

If you would like to bring these lines up to date let me know. All four of Fredericks children and their spouses are deceased. I still have many cousins in Illinois. I am sharing what information I have with them as well. Thank you for the names of Jacob's children. It helps in doing further research.

Hi hopefully you are still getting these posts. I responded to mr. bour who posted on this thread. I beleive your granfather was the son of Jacques (Jacob "Jake") Bouvy who was married to Margaret Fahey and to Elizabeth Mathilda Zimmer. Most of your line is claiming that Elisabeth Zimmer was the mother of the two girls. No one has the names of Alberts wife. Was your granddad the Albert Bouvy that died in Tattnall County Ga.? Are you still located in that area? According to Mr. Bour My great grandmother Barbe (Barbara) and Jacques Bouvy were sister and brother. Their parents were Henri Bouvy and Catherine Petit. I knew that Henri was her father from Catholic Church records and that her mothers first name was Catherine from those same records. If you would like to colllaborate I am willing to share information.

Correction most of your side of the family is claiming that Elizabeth was the mother of all five children. The Albert Bouvy I have that passed in Georgia was born in Pa March 28, 1897 and died according to SSdeath index November 1977 Glennville, Tattnall County, GA. Here is a breakdown of what I have come up with so far.....

Henri Bouvy born January 01, 1817 Lambach, Moselle Dept., Lorraine France married Catherine Petit born May 04, 1836
two of their children emigrated to US. I do not know if they had more than the two children.

Barbe Bouvy born September 05, 1865 Lambach, Moselle Dept., Lorraine France married Jean Sebastien (John Sebastion) Metz born September 05, 1865. emigrated in 1885 and lived in Pittsburgh PA and had four of their six children there before moving to Illinois where the last two were born my grandfather being the youngest.

Jacques (Jacob)Bouvy born September 04, 1869 Lambach, Moselle Dept., Lorraine France married Elizabeth Zimmer born in Pa and then Margaret Fahey born in England. Jacob had the following children Casper, Elizabeth, Albert, Harry, and Katherine. Some of Katherine's family is researching this line as well. Most of their research is on RootsWeb World Connect and free. I have sent inquiries via the internet and snail mail and am awaiting replies.

I am still getting the messages, and I would love to cooberate. I am the granddaughter of Albert from Tattnall Cty. He was born in PA, but moved to GA where he remarried and eventually passed. His first wife(my grandmother) was Mary Margaret Gaul. I have been searching everywhere to get information about her to no avail. She did emmigrate from Ireland, but as my father was only 4 when she died, he doesn't know anything else. She died in either 1934 or 1935(probably the latter). It is nice to see/converse with family. It is truly amazing. Thanks for your emails, I appreciate them. Debbie Bouvy-Kruger

Does she have email? Here is my email address if she wants to connect with me. teachmeogreatone@gmail.com. I am no longer a subscriber to ancestry but am able to update messages that are sent to me regarding my postings. I also received an email back from Albert's sister Elizabeth's great granddaughter. I am sharing information with her. If you would like I will tell her where to find the post and have her contact you.

What were Albert's childrens names. Do you have any birthdates, marriage dates, death dates. Ancestry has great death records for GA. on line. Also check the census out. Was he Catholic? check the church he attended for records. Also try and find out local parish in Pa for their records. If you do find that out I would be interested in contacting them as well. I believe that my Barbara and John came over together and stayed with Jake from 1885 -1891 after which they moved to Illinois and I have those church records. 4 of the children were born in PA and baptised there. It might list additional family that emigrated as godparents. Also check newspapers and the library where Albert died. newspapers often tell wifes parents or maiden name for children as well. Another place to check is the funeral homes in the area where he died. They may have records of survivors, cause of death, informant usually a spouse or elder child. What funeral home buried Albert in 1977? If they are still in operation they would have the records. I hope this helps with your search. If I find out more I will let you know.
Elizabeth Bouvy's gr granddaughter thought that Jake (Jacob) and Barbara came over together in 1889. I told her that us census for 1910 in Alton, madison County Illinois show her and John Metz both entering the US in 1885. They may have met in Pittsburgh and married. I do no have a marriage date for them.
