My Great-grandmothers maiden name was Camarda. She was born circa 1890 and married a man named Gatto from Sicily, they moved to the US around 1908. Her fathers name was Vincent Camarda and her mother was Tomasina. I am researching my Italian heritage, but cannot find too much.

I'm responding to your message of the Ancestry Surname Search by Kathy Sawyer.
My father and grandfather (Jerome Camarda) came to the states approx. in 1918 from Furci Siculo Prov. Messina in Sicily. My father always told us that my grandfather had 2 brothers that he lost track of and thought they may have gone to South America. I would be very interested in any information you have. We still have relatives in Sicily.
Hope to hear from you. e-mail address: Rokinbach2@aol.com

My great great grandmother was Rosaria Camarda born Milazzo abt 1810 married Francesco Cicirello. Other names connected to my line are Miragliotta, Santaromita, both from Naso Sicily.
My ancestors were fishermen, some went in search of better fishing grounds to places like Argentina , Porto Callao Peru,Brazil, Algeria,America and Australia. My grandfather Calogero Miragliotta and relitives went to Peru fishing , some of my family settled in Peru others Algeria , South America and America.
I do not have any other information about my Camarda line ,Or the names of Rosaria's siblings or parents , I have a copy of the Civil marriage registration of my great grand parents Salvatore Miragliotta and Providenza Cicirello dated 1898. If you have family history to share would love to hear from you.
