Brad - I live in Shallotte, NC. My surname is spelled
Cheers, but the original spelling was Chaires. My great grandfather was James Chaires who was married to Mary Jane Clemmons. I have other names that i suspect to be older ancestors but have not been able to verify. If you care to contact me at my Email address, I would like to discuss further information. Thanks

That would be great, I have a lot of information about the Chaires, but only the ones spelled that way. I spent the weekend in Chaires Fl, gathering some more information from the Chaires and other folks that still live in the area Named after Maj. Benjamin Chaires. Please Email me your Email address and i will be happy to discuss what i know about the Chaires.

To Joe Dickerson. Do you have any information on the Chaires'in NC except Joseph from Onslow County or the Chears' from Richmond and Anson County? I would appreciate anything that you have. My great grandfather was James Chaires from Brunswick County and I have been trying to connect him with the other Chaires'. Any help you can give will certainly be appreciated. Thanks, Leon

I just returned from a two day visit to Tallahassee & Chaires, Fl. You said you spoke to some of the Chaires folks-so did I. Also spent several hours in the St. Johns Church & in their cemetery. My E-mail is:
