Am looking for info on Martin Corum m. Rebecca Corruthers 1-10-1827(22?) and their daughter Arminda Corum m. James Coin 9-16-1855. Spelling may vary on Corruthers and Coin, but I believe Corum is correct. Thanks, in advance!

Abstracts from my Coram/Corum database:
!DEATH: 10/2/92-From the "Crittenden Press", 23 Nov. 1893,
"...Our New Salem correspondent tells of the death of Silas Coram. He died at his residence Nov. 19 at the age of 88 years, 3 months, and 28 days. Uncle Silas was born in East Tennessee. He came to Kentucky when quite a young man and settled near Fords Ferry. His remains were laid to rest by the side of his wife on his farm in this county Sunday evening, Nov. 19."

!BIRTH: Although obit says East Tennessee, 1850 U.S. Census record says he was born in Virginia.

!MISC: Received letter from Mrs. Newell Corum 6/19/99, which reads: "Dear Kay Coram, In searching through some old records on my husbands Corum line I ran across your letter to Edward Coram, dated June 24, 1994 asking help with information on a Silas Coram. I'm not sure if I answered you or not, but I have just turned up some old Tax rolls for Grainger, Co., TN for the year of 1827. Silas Coram is listed. This is the only time he was listed. It is my understanding that the Grainger Co. records are to [be] put on the Mormon micro-film soon. I don't find Silas any where else, but then I haven't been able to search through this county's records in some time. Sure hope you have found some one who could help you more. [Signed] Mrs. Newell Corum, 7510 Dan McBee Rd., Corryton, TN 37721."

I found the following in an LDS Family History Center. No Silas, but perhaps he is related to these Corums:

Travers Corum, born possibly VA, md possibly VA, died at age 70 in Blairs Crossroads, Grainger Co. TN. Don't have wife's name.

His son Thornton Corum, born near Richmond, VA, md in TN, lived to be about 70 years old, married to Annie Gains.

Their son Carson Frank Corum (a Baptist minister), born 23 Jun 1834, Grainger Co., TN, married in 1855 (probably in Grainger Co. TN) to Caroline Elmore who was born in TN.

Their daughter Mary Ellen Corum, born 1859 in Ashgrove, MO, married to Christopher Columbus Ginn (dob 1852 in Chattanooga, TN).

There is a wonderful biography on Rev. Carson F. Corum which lists the rest of his children. This biography was found on the Internet, I think in the Missouri Site (Greene County).

If you find any connections to these names, please let me know as I am eager to extend this line back.

I have been looking in a lot of places on the Internet and remember seeing the name Arminda but can't recall where. Have you tried checking her on Ancestry.com? If I run across anything, I'll let you know.

Thanks, Jackie. If I come across a Carson, I'll let you know, too. I've tried ancestry.com, but I'm not as knowledgable about these searches as I could be. Still green behind the ears! Where, or how, did you find that file on Martin and Rebecca? I've got a lot to learn! Jean
