My grand mother was Estelle Emerence de Malmanche and Sarah was her mother. No one seems to know much about her.
Granny never spoke of her The family have plenty of photos of her but who was her family. I really think that may have not been her real name. Why hasn't one of our many relations been able to get a birth certificate from the states. Was her father a whaler. I shall watch your sight.

Hi Ernie,

My family are all direct descendants of Sarah Crober and Emery De Malmache. We came to the conclusion a while back that we have all been looking in the wrong direction with the spelling of her last name - it seems to be Sarah Corober - if you follow this path you get back to philaedelphia to her. We believe she was taken to France during the civil war for safety but just how she got to Akaroa we can't get a definate answer. We do no she died in Auckland in the same year as her husband Emery. If you want to compare information on the families that all descent from the Gerzeau, De Malmanche, Le Prou and Champalou please feel free to email us at annharringtonnz@hotmail.com
