I'm interested in determining whether there are any links between the Eudey's in South Africa and Eudey's anywhere else in the world. The Eudey's in South Africa (of which there are only two families) are all descendents of Len and Mary Eudey, both born in the late 1800's or early 1900's.

I have a "We Eudys" book but I have not been able to locate a Len and Mary. Can you give me more information?

Re: Eudey's in South Africa
Hi,
I've got a link to Eudeys, and I'm South African, although the Eudeys we're related to are Australian, prior to that Cornish...
Audrey, do you have an Edward Eudey b 1830, Redruth, Cornwall in your book - he married a Mary Shear Lecher in Tuckingmill in 1851. I'm interested in who his parents were.
Regards,
Patricia

Re: Eudey's in South Africa
Would like to hear from people with the Eudey surname. We live in Johannesburg, South Africa and have relatives (brother Grant and family)in Brisbane, Australia.

Re: Eudey's in South Africa
As you can see from my post before, I don't have the Eudey surname, but am interested in chatting to anyone who is researching the Eudey family who lived in Bendigo, Victoria, Australia; before that Redruth, Cornwall...
If you have any links to this family, I'd love to hear from you.

Re: Eudey's in South Africa
Hi, my name is Vivienne (nee Eudey). Am wondering if we are related as your surname Is Eudy and not Eudey. Our grandparents were Reginald, Leonard, Maine Eudey and Mary Ellen Dixon and they came from the south of England, Redruth, Cornwall area. Would love to get information on any Eudeys around the world.

Hello. I was interested to see your post because I haven't been on ancestry.com before. I believe your ancestors were Richard James Eudey, a blacksmith of Pool, Illogan Parish, Cornwall and his wife, Alice Mayne Eudey, his former next door neighbor. The Eudey family with an E are located in the Pool, Redruth, and Camborne areas. The name is often Eudy and often misspelled or misread as Endy or Endey. If you look on the Cornish Free Census and free bmd, you can trace both the Eudeys and the Maynes.
Their children in the 1901 British Census in Illogan are Leonard, son 4, and Reginald, son 2, and both boys are shown as "born Transvaal British Subject." Richard's mother was Mary Ann Eudey, whose husband James Eudey, I believe had been in Australia before he married. (These parents are buried in Illogan Churchyard. James is the brother of the family I'm interested in.)
Both James and Richard died in Cornwall, but I suppose the children decided that the colonies were a better bet.
Thank you for your post. I was beginning to think no one was interested in this family!

Re: Eudey's in South Africa, Correction to my post
Hi, Vivienne, In my previous reply to your post, I said that Richard Eudey had died in Cornwall. I'm actually not sure about that. I had noted 3 deaths in South Africa. They were online in "National Archives of South Africa". One was Alice Eudey (Allie), and it says predeceased spouse Richard James Eudey. That would imply that Richard and Alice Eudey went back to South Africa not died in Cornwall as I said.
The second posting was regarding the "deceased estate" of James Leonard Mayne Eudey, born South Africa. I did not know of Leonard's first name James, except that it confirms that he is the grandson of James Eudey of Pool. It also says, "SSP Mary Ellen Eudey born Dickson.
The third listing was for Sarah Jane Bond, b. Eudey, and regarded the former Transvaal Province.
There was also a listing for a Jean Mabel Eudey. You may have this information already if you are in South Africa.
