A Fruean Family meeting was held in Apia, Samoa and descendants of Charles Fruean agreed to hold a Reunion. The meeting resolved that a Genealogy be drawn up first so that each members will know where they come from. Charles Fruean married Meleane or Maryann Su'a of Lefaga and they had 7 children. I have been assigned to do this research and coordinate the printing of a genealogy book for submission to the Fruean Reunion. I have collected about 80% of the information but I need verification from family members. Please help me to complete this research. I also need old photographs of Fruean members. I wish to thank Mary Hall for her email and photograph of her great grandmother Kilika Fruean-Hall formerly of Pago Pago, American Samoa. Presently I'm in NZ doing this search after visiting Australia and Fiji. I hope to visit Tonga and anticipating USA if need be. This trip can be saved if all those in USA could contact me at cmoore@ihug.co.nz for information concerning their connections to this family. Many thanks for your help.

Talofa Stella. Thankyou for replying. Presently in Samoa working with the Fruean Committee for the Fruean Reunion. The approved program is - Reunion will be held on 5,6 &7 June 2002 in Apia, Samoa. First day will be a parade of the Fruean family made up of descendants from the 7 children of Charles Fruean Zimmermann and Meleane Leali'itasi Su'apaia. They had 7 children - Henry Sr, Charles, Martha, Mary, Alfred, James and Eliza (Alaisa) your grandmother.
The parade thru Apia will end at the RCChurch in a Mass celebration to be performed by all Fruean priests and pastors. After Mass will be lunch/dinner at Tofamamao, Leauvaa which the family has booked out for 3 days. The venue has family rooms for rent so whoever wants to attend can book thru the committee (chrisphilipp@lesamoa.net). 2nd Day will start at 9am with a bus trip to Savaia Lefaga to meet with the family and village of Meleane Leali'itasi Su'apaia. There will be cultural meetings, dancing and feasting as well as presentation of gifts from the Fruean descendants to her family in Lefaga. Family will return to Leauva'a to mix and mingle with families from, overseas and dinner. 3rd Day will be family items, dancing, games followed by a big family banquet to farewell and discuss further family reunions. Prior to Reunion the Genealogy Book of the Frueans will be launched to enable family members to purchase a copy for their information. Please tune in to the Fruean Website www.fruean.ws. Good luck and please spread the word and see if your families in Tonga can come to the reunion. We would love to meet with you people. Tofa soifua for now. Frances Fruean-Moore

My great grandfather is Robert Stout Skeen III, one of the skeen twins, whom died in Tonga, and I think you weed his grave along with my great gt grandmother's. Now from my great grandfather Robert (Paki) Skeen and My great grandmother Sarah Payne, my grandmother Ruby Skeen was born, whom is married to my Grandfather Adolph Johansson, who are both alive and living in Auckland New Zealand (migrated from Tonga in 1977ish). My mother Norma Johansson was then born in Tonga, and had me here in New Zealand. I currently live in wellington, New Zealand, but am delighted that I know someone from the family is looking after my gt grandfather's grave, but unfortunately have no information as of yet as to my Gt Gt grandmother's parents names'. I will find out for us, hopefully from family members, then I will get back to you. My e-mail addrees is there above, so don't hesitate to contact me. God Bless.

Anyway, I have a wedding picture of my grandmother (Josephine Schmidt) and grandfather Papali'i Viliamu Fruean (Julius Newland Fruean) taken in Savai'i in 1930. I wish it was printed in the 1st edition.
By the way......my husband's last name is Howard, not Howett (he's the son of the QA Manager for Polynesian Airlines, Walter G Howard and Ella Howard (nee Fepulea'i).
Please reply, will send old photos out via e-mail........
Well done Francis........Regards,

talofa frances :)

what wonderful work udo, connecting our very large family
i so regret not attending the reunion, ijust got lost along the way

in 2002, i went to canberra then to sydney, back to canberra again where iattended patricia fruean skeen fulivais daughter hennas wedding lol iwasnt invited, iheard about it and just turned up to the shock and happiness all around, then iwent off to tonga, and there igot lost again

icongratulate you on a job well done and on book too
the honourable alaileula tukuaho spoke of ure book, and how much she enjoyed reading it, trying to connect the dots so to speak

she told me that eliza took a woman to tonga with her, when she moved there with her husband robert lowis skeen
supposedly the woman was her great great grandmother, but she didnt know her name
would you by any chance know, who that woman was and what, if any, is our connection to the jungeblots/spelling

thank you for this wonderful work, it is such a great thing

by the way my mothers name was kalaneti letele 'o vava'u lahi <naufahu>

my father robert stout fruean/skeen lives in downey/long beach area/los angeles, hes 80+ now ;)
