I am looking for information on John T. Gager, who fought for the Union in the 105th Illinois Regiment. He was born Nov. 11, 1840. I would like information on his ancestors, spouse, birth, death, marriage date, etc. I would love to meet any other descendants, too. My lineage from John is son Clarence/his daughter Ada/her son Neil Weiher, who is my dad. I can be reached at foxhome@hpe.infi.net

Your message was greatly appreciated. I'll send you the meager info that I have and will eagerly anticipate your information.

I understand that there is an issue of Iowa's history magazine _Palimpsest_ from the 1940's with an article on John T. Gager's regiment. Have you seen it?

Dean,
When you say your family data sheets go way back, how far back is that? I've been researching my surname - Jagger - and there is a great deal of discussion regarding the split between the spellings of the name. The original family was somewhere in Connecticut - with my ancestor leaving and moving to Long Island. The story goes that those members who stayed in Conn eventually changed their surname spelling to Gager and those who left for Long Island kept the original spelling of Jagger. Does this jive with your information. Thanks, Sandi

Sandi:
I have information on Jagger from CT moving to Long Island. Time period is 1637-1651.
My relaive George Bowden married a Susan Jagger on LI about 1818. Am trying to document that she is related to John Jagger who moved to Stamford CT from Weathersfield CT in 1641-then to Southampton NY in 1651. If this is what you refer to (and I assume it is) I can help you with further info.

Need to know place and time period you are looking at. My Jagger info spans 1630-1880 from Weathersfield CT and Long Island, NY.
I have seen early records that mistake then correct Gager to Jagger. Have also seem LDS records that seem to take the Jagger line and then just change the spelling.
