Very interested in your post about Nicholas Gallienne. I am
descended from Nicholas Gallienne [1803-1878] who was born in
Torteval and came to the U.S. with his wife Judith (Sarre) and
several children around 1850; he died in Winona, Minn. Last
paragraph sounds like my ancester, as I know he stopped in Albany,
N.Y. on route west. One of his sons, Henry, stayed on in Albany, and
I am descended from Henry. I have more info if anyone is interested!

Here is what I have; it's not yet complete on the
recent generations. Nicholas Gallienne and Judith (Sarre)
Gallenne appear to have come to the U.S. around 1848-50 with
all of their children. Most of them ended up in Minnesota, but
my ancester Henry and perhaps a brother or two stayed in Albany.
Your story about Nicholas Jr. staying briefly in Albany is a good
piece of the puzzle. I have the exact same dates for Nick Jr. so
we are surely talking about the same people.

What's your connection?

Hi,

I am replying to a person that I see in your family tree, Brace Millard Gallien. I have a Brace Millard who removed from Lockport, Niagara Co, NY to Albany, NY between 1840 and 1850. He was the son of Mary Brace and Almon Hopkins Millard. He married Clymena Chloe Winchell in 1835 in Lockport, NY. I know that he was still living after 1900. I have no information about any descendants. Brace Millard was employed in the Comptroller's Office and handled tax sales of lands in Buffalo and other cities in behalf of Farmers Mechanics Bank of Albany during the time when Martin Van Buren was Governor of New York. I have a letter written by Brace on letter from the Comptroller's Office. Do you know of any connection of this Brace Millard to your Brace Millard Gallien? Susie in Nashville

Doesn't seem to connect, though there are spooky
coincidences. My Brace Millard Gallien wasn't born
until 1860. He was a financial auditor in Albany,
though. And oddly enough, his uncle Henry Gallien,
my direct ancester, was Deputy Comptroller of the
State of NY.
