I have been working on the Griffee line for many years and always got stuck on Adam. Some say he was born in New Jersey and others say he was born in Wales and just said he was born in New Jersey for immigration purposes.

I am a decendant of Adam through Charles Griffee then Curtis. My father is Edward Dale Griffee.

I had a nice chat with your mother this morning and we discovered something in my information that had escaped me. I had some information that Issac Griffee from Wales was Adams father, but then I ran across information from a Rachael Colwell, who said she was a House Mother at Alpha Signa Phi at Iowa State University, Ames, Ia. I found this information in some things my father had collected.

She said she got this inoformation from an old Griffee bible that she had received and it was old and in bad shape. She said that Adams father was William Griffee and his wife was Keziah. Family bibles are a pretty good source. I had that Issac Griffee was his father but that seemed to a wild goose chase.

In looking that the records, that makes perfect sense, Adam named his first child, Rebecca Keziah Griffee, a pretty unusual name to be a chance. Then his first son is named William.

I am so excited to research this now.

I was telling your mom that I own a condo downtown Salt Lake, walking distance to the largest geneology library ever. A candy store to genelogists. We rent it for $40 a night and a lot of gene. use it. It books up fast so if you ever want to take a trip let me know.

Hope this helps, Keep in touch I would love to connect to Wales.

I have a cousin in Grand Junction Colorado who does work on Griffees his name is John Lynn. I don't have a current number for his perhaps infomation does.

Good Luck, Sue Griffee Kern

My Gr.Grandmother was a Griffee from Warren County Illinois. There were several in that family and not inconceivable that some of their descendents were in Iowa. Des Moines is not that far from Monmouth, Warren County, Illinois. They had migrated there from Kentucky. Thought I would give you another possible line close by to look at.

Oops! I changed my email address. It is now mari1942@aol.com. Please contact me. We do have a connection. My gr-gr-grandfather, William Griffee was Martha's oldest brother. Their father was Joseph Thomas Griffee who was married to Rachel Atkinson. William was married to Harriet Wallace. Their daughter, Louisa, was my gr-grandmother who was married to Charles West Parker. Their oldest child, Harriet was my grandmother. Except for Wednesday I am usually on the Internet off and on all day.
