My Grandfather, Henry Hammerly, was born in Switzerland, probably Glarus Canton, in 1868. Do you know anything about him or the European history of your Hammerly family?

I have no information on John Hammerly B:1883. I went to Glarus, Switzerland in October and traced Henry Hammerly (Heinrich Hammerli), my Grandfather back 450 years. They have fine records at the Landesarchiv in Glarus. If you want more information on that, let me know.

Thanks again for the help. My great uncle went by the name Ed (nickname). I figured that Edward or Edwin was the right name for short Ed. If you know of any other name that could use Ed as short, Please let me know.
Thanks again,
Nancy
