My mother is a Howington. According to my Aunt who gave me our Howington genealogy. Howington's from my family came from Ireland. My Great Great Grandfather was named Rayford who came from Ireland in 1870. His wife's name was Lizzie and his children's names were Rayford Jr., John and Lizzie. I have many names for the Howington's in Alabama. If this helps, great. If you want more names, let me know.

I am searching for the family of Nimrod and Milbery Howington who came from Wake Co., NC into Sumter County, AL during the 1840's. Do you have anything on this family in Alabama? I know they had about 10 children, only 3 of whom I know names: Thomas Jefferson, James C., and John M. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Nimrod Howington born ca. 1797 in NC; died ca. Aug. 1870 in Franklin Parish, LA; married Milbery Bradley ca. Sept. 1820 in Wake Co., NC; family moved into Sumter Co., AL ca. 1830-1840. Three known children(I have been unable to find the many others but know there were at least 13 children altogether): (1)Thomas Jefferson Howington born Nov. 6, 1821 in NC; died ca. 1911-1912 and is buried in Franklin Parish, LA; married Edna A.E. Thorn Dec. 7, 1848 in Sumter Co., AL; children: Louisa C., Napoleon Armstrong "Bud", Haseltrice Mary, John Lafayette "Fate", Regina and Walter Thomas. 2nd wife of Thomas Jefferson Howington--Martha Ann Sims Thorn (widow of Edna Thorn's brother Benjamin).Children of Thomas and Martha: Thomas Jefferson, Jr., Bettie Roberson, Mattie, Rosetta.
(2) James C. Howington (son of Nimrod) born 1824 in NC; died 1871-1880; buried in Neshoba Co., MS; married Amelia A. Elizabeth Smith on Sept. 17, 1843 in Sumter Co., AL; children: James, Milbery Ellen, Louis McElroy, Nancy Adline, Elizabeth, John Thomas, Benjamin D., Amanda J., Sallie A. "Sarah", James Redding, Arminta E., and William.
(3) John M. Howington (son of Nimrod) born in NC; died Oct. 1, 1856 in Franklin Parish, LA
I have records on Nimrod showing him in Wake Co., NC in 1830 and in Sumter Co., AL in 1840, unable to find him 1850; in Franklin Parish, LA in 1860 with Thomas and in courthouse records in Aug. 1870 where his belongings were auctioned off. There is no will listing his children. I believe him to be the son of Herod by the way he is listed in the Wake Co., NC census and that Josiah, Nelson, and Hailey may have been his brothers. No one seems to have anything on any of these lines. I would be extremely grateful for any help you can give me. Thanks.
