Dear Joseph:
I have a brother Joseph. My dad is Edmund A. Hemmersbach. Is your dad Linus? If that's the case then we're cousins! Nice to meet you. I am married to Stanley E. Motter and have 2 stepdaughters and 2 adopted sons. We live in Morris, Illinois. I was born in 1953. I had 4 brothers. Edmund, the oldest, is deceased. Victor, Ray, and Joseph all live in Morris also. My mother (Christina (Tomac) Hemmersbach spoke fondly of Linus. I have just started looking up information on our family tree and it has been fun but confusing. My family was somewhat apart the rest of the family in Wisconsin and I don't know my relatives. Hopefully, that will change. Well, I better go. Please reply. Mary

Hi Mary,

I'm looking for descendents of Wilhelm Henry Hemmersbach (born about 1842)of Chicago and Westphalia, IA.

His parents were Peter Joseph Hemmersbach and Agnes Maybury of Hachenbery in Prussia.

Any connection?

Frank in Chicago

Hi!
My father Edmund Adolf Hemmersbach whose father was Frank Hemmersbach, whose grandfather was Peter Hemmersbach had an uncle by the name of Henry. My dad said nobody knew where he was for about 25-30 years. My dad said his father got a letter sometime in the 30's or 40's from South Dakota that said he was working on a farm there. All the years through his life he was never married. That is all my dad can remember. My dad also had an uncle Peter Hemmersbach. He lived in Norwalk, Wisconsin. They farmed there. His wife's name was Theresa. They had 7 or 8 children. Does any of this help you out? Please get back with me.

I am descended from Heinrich Hemmersbach who came to America in 1857 with his brother Peter Joseph Hemmersbach. I understand that they came through Chicago on their way to Wisconsin. Did your Peter Joseph Hemmersbach have a brother named Heinrich? I know that Heinrich ended up in Monroe County, Wisconsin. I am not sure what happened to Peter,
