Dorathea was born to Johann Jochimsen and Anna Krach Jochimsen 23 Mar, 1843, at Ockholm, Amt. Brecktede, Schleswig, Germany. Anna died, Johann remarried Christine _______ and came to US with her and other children Mathilda, b abt 1846, Paul, b 1 Nov 1856, and Sophia, arriving in Clinton, Iowa July 3, 1860. Johann's will of 1872 leaves his estate to his wife, Christine, but directs her to "support and maintain and to sufficiently clothe Mathias Kraag, the brother of my first wife, for and during the remainder of his natural life." After Johann and Christine drowned in 1872, Matthias Kraag released the heirs from any further claims on the estate. Does anyone have any info on Kraags in Clinton co, Iowa, or possibly Jackson co, Iowa, especially Matthias in the early records up to about 1890? Any info on the family around Ockholm? Have also seen it spelled Krag, Kraich, Kraech, Kraecht. Trying to determine which woman was mother of the younger three children of Johann Jochimsen. Already checked mar recs of all 3 children, Nat. recs, census, etc. Please email me. Thanks RuthAnn

A correction to my 3 Apr 2002 posting: Johann Jochimsen died March 3, 1873, not 1872...his will was dated July, 1872. Another note to help locate Ockholm, his birthplace: St John's Lutheran, Charlotte, Iowa listed the bplace of a member named Ketelsen as "Ockholm, Amt. Bredstedt, Schleswig", rather than "Amt Brecktede." Has anyone accessed church or civil records from Ockholm yet?
