I'm trying to trace any branches from the Leflore line that married with the Gardner line before the trail of tears. My direct line is Noel Gardner and Henritta Leflore. Her father was Capt. Thomas Leflore and mother was Shakapahona "Sookie" Pusley. Any info would be appreciated. You may see 60% of my genealogy on www.geocities.com/heartland/flats/7540 and click on the genealogy family history line.

Butler, I just have time for a brief reply but wanted to establish a correspondence with you. My GG-GM Salina GARDNER was the dau. of Jeremiah Sarah (HALL) GARDNER. Salina was one of the several wives of George W. (Washington?) HARKINS I. His parents were John Louisa (LeFLORE) HARKINS. Louisa was the dau. of Louis Nancy (CRAVAT) LeFLEUR.

My grandmother Lela Josephine (O'RILEY) McINERNEY (Dawes Roll #9819) was the dau. of John O'RILEY (Dawes Roll #IW329) and Mary Catherine HARKINS (Dawes Roll #9814). She (my GM) lived in Durant, OK for almost her entire 94 years.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Please contact either my husband or myself, I think that we may be able to help you on the LeFleur connection or atleast get you going in the right direction. Jeremiah Gardner (Choctaw Indian) married Clarissa Lefleur in 1827. I have two more generations on Clarissa Lefleur. One of Clarissa's sisters probably is the Lefleur you are looking for. Contact us if you want any of their names and what info we have.

The only Leflore/Lefleur's I've come across in our background was in the 1700's and then we loose the family name and I haven't been able to locate them again at this time. I can tell you that Louis Lefleur (a frenchman) married into the Choctaw tribe in 1792 and had 11 children, four of which were boys. The boys names were William, Jackson, Benjamin, and Greenwood. His second marriage (after the death of his first wife), produced two more sons, A Brazile and Forbis. It was during this time that I begin seeing a change in the spelling of Lefleur to Leflore (unknown if this actually happened or if the person who originally obtained this information changed the spelling by accident. Good luck on your search.

Note: Leflore County in Southeast Oklahoma has a county that is named after the Leflore family Choctaw indians, you might look here for some more recent info. If I can be of any further help feel free to contact me at kathyann34@hotmail.com
