I too am looking for Machemer's in Berks Co during the late 1700's. Does the name of Henry or William Henry Machemer match anything that you have? Thanks

John born 1795 Berks Co Pa but married Mary Lewis Union co. I've also found the Daniel you mentioned but have't been able to connect them--only that they were mentioned in wills. Would that help you? Reply to my e-mail if you wish.

Emily;

Where did you get the Daniel Machmer name?? I have nothing other than a W. Henry Mockmore (that supposedly changed his name from Machemer or Machomer), born in Berks County in 1798! Civil War enlistment papers Yes at 64 year of age!

Family lore has it that his name was William Henry and that his fathers name was William and so he went by Henry! The names William, Charles and Daniel are in every generation of my family. So, I think there was probably some sort of history behind these names in Berks county.

But that is all that I have!

Any mention of a William or a Henry born about 1798 in the wills you are looking at?
I would be interested in the Will details you have.

Beth;

I don't have you e-mail address. W.Henry Machemer was my GGG Grandfather. William was supposedly his father. Henry was born in Berks County, PA in 1798 and d. in 1864. In 1850 he lived next to and is buried next to John Mackemer Sr. of PA. b. 1794 and d. 1853.

I believe Henry and John were either brothers or cousins. They both arrived from PA at the same time, lived next to each other and are buried within a few feet of each other. Must be some relationship there!

What do you have on William and Henry?
