NEARHOOF in PA

Surnames: NEARHOOF, Dhiel, Reese
I am a descendent of Sherman Andrew NEARHOOF b. 1901 Pennsylvania. He was married to Anna Barbara DHIEL -from the Dhiel/Ritchey family. I've been lead to believe that Sherman Andrew's father was Harry NEARHOOF b. 1850. Harry was married to Stella REESE. This family seems to have settled in the Blair/Centre/Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania area. My dad seems to think that the first Nearhoof came from Germany in the 1770's, but right now I'm at a dead end!
Any hints or help would be very much appreciated!

Hi Heather, I was researching my ancestry when I saw your post. My father, Ron Nearhoof, knows nothing about the family history because his father died in a plane crash when my father was a baby. Therefore I'm at a loss too. He also believes our ancestors came from Germany. I am very curious about Nearhoof family history, and wish I could be of more help to you. My parents live in Blair County, and I went to Tyrone high, class of "86". I think you went to Tyrone also and your father was a science teacher, but I'm not sure? I'm not even sure if our families are in any way related but it seems probable. If you uncover any historic information could you please pass it on. I'll do the same for you. Good luck searching!
Thank you, Tim

Hi Heather,

Im Kirk Nearhoof originally from PA and the First Nearhoof from Germany was Henry Nearhoof and i believe the date was 1760. My Father did some geneology back to the first Nearhoof which was Henry. My father's name is Donald Nearhoof.

Sincerly,
