Hello Carol or your aunt who ever receives this message. The Paulding line I have information on came from Holland spelling of this name is Pauldnic.I think the spelling is ridgt need to look at my records but they are in Illinois snd I am in Texas this is close anyway. We have information there was a Henry Pawlin who came from England and said he was a Paulding But it was spelled differant the family wanted to be Paulding and some even changed the spellingto make it the same. Jost Paulding came to America information I have says 1664 Don't know where this information came from but the earliest information I can document was he was declared a freeman in 1683 was married in 1688 to Catharina Jans
duyts.Have a great deal of information on the family on down to me. The county's you mentioned were named for the Revolutionary War hero John Paulding there are also County's named for the other young men who with him at the time.I don't have any connection to England through family history I have. Is it possilbe some of the family moved to England during the 1800 sometime? If so Do you have a name I can connect with? John Paulding the War Hero was married three times and had a total of 18 children. Some record say 22. Some died in infanty. If I can be of any help please let me know Myrlene

Hi,

The Paulding family arrived in America in 1863. The name then was Van Pauldinck. The Van was dropped and because the inck sounded like ing it too was changed. The Paulding are from Holland. John is related to my family too, but because I cannot come up with my Great Grandmothers name, i cannot place what side of the family we are on.

There is a book about Rear Admiral Hiram Paulding, it's old and I am looking for it. Lyndhurst in Tarrytown was original built by William Paulding, once Mayor of New York City, and a 4th cousin. At a quick glance of his picture he looks like my father who was born in 1899 and died in 1957. My Uncle Jack had started the family history and I am still trying to put the pieces together. My grandfather worked on the Panama Canal in 1913. The Paulding's were all navy men until my father went into the Army - WWI. He was gased in Germany.

That's about all I have right now. I live in New Jersey and would be happy to share what information I have.

Bye. Oh, did you know there is a room dedicated to John Paulding in Tarrytown? I have yet to go there, but will one of these days.

Hi,

I too am related, but don't know at what point in time. My father was born in Philadelphia PA in 1899. We are 4th cousins to William Paulding, ex Mayor of New York City in the 1700's and who built Lyndhurst in Tarrytown, New York. If you have any other information on the Paulding family I would like to hear from you. If you have a picture of the gun i would like to see it.

Thanks,

Pat

The Pauldings arrived in 1683, not 1863, sorry about that.

Hope to hear from you.

I am a descendant of John Paulding too, through his son John, his son George, his son AD (Dee), then my dad AD (Buck). My dad's family has lived in Oklahoma since 1921 and has a complete history of their line of the Paulding tree. Feel free to contact me if you'd like information.
