Hi, Pat,
Nice to hear from you. Yes, I'm Carlos' wife. I have found quite a bit about J.G. Rodery, also. I am pretty sure he was born in Weakley Co., Tn. I did find which unit he was in, but I haven't gotten any of the records. Just what I have found online. I, also, found him aand his first wife in the 1870 census- he was married to Mary, born in Tn. and had 2 daughters, ages 4 and 3. So I assume they all died sometime after Serena was born in 1875. Because in the 1880 census, he was married to Lydia and Serena and Levi were listed.
Well, I can't list everything here, so e-mail me and we can compare notes. I'm glad you answered my query. The person I wrote to in this message board never got back to me. I can't figure out who she is. Can you? My e-mail is <rodery@livingonline.com.>
I will be anxious to hear from you.

Hi there Guys! Gwen, sounds like you have had a vivid interest in family geneology. John George was born on April 10,1844, in Bollinger, Missouri.I was born on the same date one hundred years later.I have some original photograps of him & another soldier painted during that age, also an original of him with grandmother Lidda, uncle Levi and grandpa as babies, sitting on their laps. Its beautiful! My Sister Beverly had done a lot of research on the subject too. I think that Calvin and Charlotte may have been too young to be the parents of J.G. & as they were married in 1848. As to the "other" Patricia I don't know who this person is either. Love to You All, Your Niece Pat Rodery Dickus Always stay in touch!

Hi, Beverly,
Sorry I haven't got back to you sooner. Glad to hear from you. Carlos said, "Hello, yes it has been a long time since he saw you." Yes, I have been in touch with Patsy, we sort of disagree on who John George's parents were. I think that Calvin was his father and Charlotte was his step-mother. But I can't prove it but they were in the 1880 Chalk Bluff census a few houses away from John G. and Lydia. Also they were in the Weakley Co. census with Elmira, John, and a Jane. And Carlos said that his Dad told him his Dad was from Tenn. Too bad we didn't ask a lot more questions when our parents and grandparents were alive. But I will share what I know with you, which isn't a lot but it is fun trying to find out all I can.
Keep in touch.

Hi Gwen, I really feel negligent for not answering your message of Oct. 2002!!
I am on the computer frequently, but have been doing a lot of research on my mothers family and my husbands family,as well.
I also agree that Calvin and Charlotte were J.G.'s parents- I can't prove it, though I haven't given up, and I believe the Rodery's were from Tenn.,( Weakley Co.). Pat and I have disagreed on ancestors before, I think the more differing opinions we have allows us to search in different directions, thereby covering more material. Pat has shared some very good info and material with me. If I have anything you don't have in regard to J.G.Rodery, I will happily share.
Love Yas, Beverly
