I have been searching for information on Sanders that might have owned slaves. As you know it is very hard for Africian Americans to find information. Sometimes
it seems that my family dropped out of the sky. Anyway with all of the sites that I have been in, one stick out in my mind.
There was this Sanders man who fell in
love with a Native American. The report
goes that his family disowned him. I am
looking for this information so that I can send it to you. This might be your family.

My father is from Oklahoma. His parents met on or near the Creek Reservation in Okmulgee, OK. They are of Native American, African American and Caucasion heritage. My great grandfather's name is John Henry Sanders. He was Caucasion and Native American.

Try looking in the Cherokee Dawes Roll. There are a lot of Sanders there. I am trying to find our more information about John Henry Sanders 1880-1930's.

My father, James Marion Sanders, came to Mass. in 1940-41, in the army. He was from Oklahoma, of part Cherokee descent. I was born in April, 1942. He went of to war, serving in Europe, but he and my mother became divorced sometime in 1944-45. He was Native-American/Caucasian. Cannot remember him, nor did we have any contact after the mid-40's. Wonder if you and I are related in any way. I don't know where my father's ancestors came from.

My great great grandfather was Thomas B. Sanders who traveled from NC to Lousiana. One of his sons, James Napoleon Sanders went North to Ark. and raised a family there around 1900. Do you have any connection to these names?

Hi, I am also looking for Sanders in the
Texas area. You spoke of a Marion Sanders
from Texas who's wife might have been NA.
What time period was Marion from?

My Mother's Grandma's maiden name was Esther
Sanders and my Mother thinks Esther's Mother
or possibly Grandmother was Cherokee.

Esther was married to Lacy Dowty, they had two
boys Robert Sanders Dowty b 9/25/99 and John
Allen Dowty
