Looking for any information on Samuel Shoaf (b.aft 1820 in North Carolina, d. abt. 1849 in North Carolina.
He is son of Jacob Shoaf, Jr.(b. abt 1799), son of Jacob (b. 10/23/1776), son of John Henry Shoaf, Sr. (original immigrant b. abt. 1739)
Samuel's wife was Elizabeth Brinkley (b. abt. 1826). Their son Robert Lindsey Shoaf (b. 1844) is my ancestor. I am trying to establish other sources of
Samuel's ancestry other than the family bible.
Any information is appreciated and will be glad to share my data.

Have you checked with familysearch.org. My mother's mother was a Shoaf and our line started with John Henry Shoaf. I was able to trace my line all the way to my Grandmother. My line ended up in North Carolina. This is a wonderful resource and it is absolutely free to use. If you have not visited this please do so. I have found my father's entire family coming in from England and into England back to 1585. Good luck.

Hi, Brady. I've been meaning to get in touch with you, then saw this message. My grandfather was Alston Shoaf, the brother of your Shoaf grandmother. I have lots of Shoaf info. and many other ancestors that we share. I've been in touch with Lillian Shoaf Trussell.

I was a Shoaf and my great great grandfather's name was Samuel Shoaf. His full name was Mathias Samuel Shoaf. He was born 1 Oct 1839 and died 25 Nov 1904. He was married to Susan Lucinda Sowers on 10 Feb 1859. I have quite an extensive family tree from John Henry Shoaf that is current up to July 1999. If interested in further information please contact me at my email address.

Cole, I, too, am a descendant of David Shoaf, son of Jacob and Anna Catherine Sprecher. David was born 1 Oct 1801, died 4 Mar 1880. He had two wives. The first was Mary C. Sowers who died before 1838. David and Mary had 8 children. David's second wife was Cathrine Sowers Myers whom he married on 11 Dec 1938. It looks to me as if they had 17 children. Mathias Samuel Shoaf born 1 Oct 1839 and died 25 Nov 1904 was the oldest of David and Catherine's 17 children. Mathias Samuel Shoaf married Susan Lucinda Sowers on 10 Feb 1859. They were the parents of 11 children. Their second child, John Henderson Shoaf is my great grandfather.
Email me and I will gladly share this extensive family tree with you.
