I have hit a deadend at Martin Swiatkowski
who was born in Poland about 1847. He died May
10, 1930. He was married to Zofia Paczkowski
b: about 1863 in Poland d: November 10, 1937.
After the birth of their son, Steven, in 1888,
they immigrated to USA and settled in Cleveland,
Ohio. Steven married Sofia Cofta and they had
two sons, Stanley Swiat (Stanilau Swiatkowski),
and Walter Swan (Wadzu Swiatkowski).
Any information would be appreciated.

I am looking for ancestry of a Franz or Franczusek Swiatkowski who came from Poland in 1876 with his wife and 5 children. He was probably born about the 1830's but am not sure of the date. My grandfather was named John and was about 4 years old at the time. They settled in Detroit, MI until about 1890 when they bought land in Posen, MI and moved there. The family changed the name to Swan in the 1920's. Franzusek's father was Stanislaus. Does any of this sound familiar?

We have a similar research that may or may not be related. I am looking at relatives named Fransicus Catherine Swiatkowski who we believed fathered a son named John or Joannus who would be my G-Great Grandfather. All we have is a Baptismal record of 1904 listing Swiakowski as the Grandparent to Edward W Misterka. Please e mail me when you have a chance. Thanks

John Swiatkowski

The John Swiatkowski in our family was married to Constance Purgiel. His Father was Franczusek (Frank) and his mother Agniezka.

My husband's Aunt might help. Her name is Aunt Faustyna Swan. I've met her a few times. Her husband's name is Walter Swan (Swiatkowski). He died before I came into the family. I found this info on him Born 10 May 1919 Died 26 January 1980. They lived in North Royalton , OH(Cleveland). They had six children. I don't know if this will help.

I too have reached a dead end. I do not have an answer for you
but my grandfather had a niece named Katazyna (Katherine)
Cofta in Poznan, Poland. Her mother was Rose Szmania Kolat. Would you have any connections with these names.
If you can, Email me Polishpearl1@att.net.
I too would appreciate any help.

Catherine,
Hope you still watch the message boards and will view this.
I am researching the Purgiel name and believe that we may be able to help each other - Buried in Posen, MI church cemetery is one Franczisek Swiatkowski (1833 - 25 Apr 1896) and a K Swantkowski (sp?) 1840 - 1927.
Also buried there is a John Swan (1870 - 13 Sept 1948). I have a bit more family info to share if you are interested.
Please contact me directly.
Thank you, Brad
