As far back as I can go is to Houlton Maine. My grandfather was Fred and was married to Mary. They had 9 children and moved to Connecticut in the 1930's. We had a relative it is told that owned a clothing store in Houlton Maine called "Taggett's Clothing Store" Right in the center of Town. It is also told that some of the family moved over to Canada and other had moved out to Michigan. This I assume way in the generation of and before my Grandfather
My grandfather parents farm was located in Smyrna Mills Maine. Located just next to Houlton. Nothing is known of that generation.

Hello, Robert: My Grandfather was Vernon Newton Tagett. Born on a farm hoemsteaded by his grandfather. His Father was Isaac Newton Taggett, and as I understand it, the farm was a land grant for service in the Civil War. My cousin, Gene Taggett, of Caro Michigan, has the original land grant document, signed by Ulysses Grant as President. There are a number of Taggetts still in the Caro area, and also near Kalamazoo, Michigan. I have also discovered some in Ashland and Mellon Wisconsin. They are descendants of Lewis Taggett,a first cousin to my Grandfather. Lewis was editor of the Michigan Daily, At U of M and then became a newspaper owner in th eAshland area. My Uncle, Paul Taggett, in Baldwinsville, N.Y. has done quite a bit of genealogical research and would welcome a contact from you I am very sure.

Dear Robert,
I beleive we met in a Thomaston, Conn. restaurant some years ago to share information on the Taggett's. I have not gotten much further then you. A couple of weeks ago I spoke to my father's first cousin who is 84 years old and has a great memory. He told me that we (Taggett) from Allagash and St. Francis, Maine were related to the Taggett's in Houlton, Maine. He claims his grandfather Frank Taggett left Houlton to escape the civil war and went to Ledges, New Brunswick, then later on to the Maine side. He was born in 1830 and died August 12, 1902 in Allagash, Maine. His wife was Sarah Hafford. She divorced him and later married an Alfred Wiles and had a son with him who was a Jr. Franks children were William, my grandfather, Lois, John, and Hazen. Maybe we are connected in some way. You can e-mail me at jpt66@aol.com. Hope we can share information as we discover more. Good Night, Joe

Greetings once again to all.
As time move on we will lose the generations that know of our past. I am convinced that a name as unusual as ours had to start from one site. AS FAR AS I"M CONCERNED WE ARE ALL RELATED SOME WHERE IN TIME... Can one of you set up an official TAGGETT site so we may all meet and converse..I do not have the skill to create the site.. But think of it. All of us knowing each other............
