I am seeking any information on the Thalheim family of eastern Germany. My g-grandmother was Marta (Martha) Thalheim who married Max Richard Schroter(Schroeter). They lived near Leipzig. Marta was born in 1883 and had a son Harry born in 1909 in Germany. Family lore is that Marta and Max had one (possibly two) children who were born and died in infancy in Germany prior to their emigration in 1911 from the Port of Bremen. I am seeking sibling/parent names of Marta and the name of the town(s) they lived in. Also, how does one get copies of marriage licenses/birth records from Germany?

My maiden name is Thalheim. Your relatives names do not sound familiar. My great-grandfather was born in Germany but don't know where. His name was Frederick (Friedrich) Thalheim and he married Wilhelmine (Minnie) Stein before they came to this country in the 1850's. Did anyone answer your question about finding marriages, births etc in Europe?

I found one site that listed emigration from Bremen, however, according to them, the records for that period of time were destroyed during the war(s). If you have a suggestion, please let me know.. it will be greatly appreciated.
