My Great-Grandfather was Mike Shelby Tinkle b. Mar 1872 in AR. I am trying to find who his parents are. I have it narrowed down to either Michael or Robert Tinkle (who were both members of the Peace Society in AR). Info from Peace Society indicates both were born in TN. On census records for Mike Shelby it indicates his father was born in MS, but that may be a mistake. In 1880 Fulton Ct. Census, Mike Shelby was living with another family but near Michael Robert so I could not find my proof. There is a Mike Tinkle buried at Reeves Cemetery near Guion (Izard Ct.) AR but I think it's the older one. Mike Shelby was married to my Great-Grandmother Phoebe Elizabeth Barnes they had two children: Paul Tinkle my Grandmother Julia Myrtle Tinkle who married Charles Allison Pence. Mike Shelby lived in Cushman (Ind. Ct.) Ar when he died I believe he's buried at Francis Cemetery near Cushman. I will gladly share my info with anyone who finds a connection to my family. You may email or write me at 330 17th St., #16, Batesville, AR 72501, 870-698-1261. Thank you.

I am also interested in this line. My ggrandfather was Robert F. Francis? Tinkle, b. circa 1838. On my grandfathers (Asberry Leon Tinkle) birth certificate, it says Robert was born in MS 1832 and his mother Mary Martin was born in MS, circa 1842. Says he is the eighth living child of 9. I also think MS. may be wrong. On his marriage cert. says Asberrys mother was Mary Hill. A family history given by Rob Tinkle, son of William Tinkle, (Robert Francis's oldest son) says mother is Mary Owens. He also gave these names as Robert Francis's children: William (Bill), Martha, Elizabeth, Michael (Mike), Silas or John Silas, Asberry. From a cousin she says there is Mary Jane b. 1858,(a good genealogy), Ellie, Molly, George, Robert.
Asberry's mother died when he was 6 months old, and Robert married a Myra Brock. Two known children, Robert Jr. and Anna.
Do you think we might be connected?
Thank you, Phyllis

I have always thought this Sarah fits into my Tinkle's somewhere but I do not know how either. My cousin Carole has a Liz Tinkle listed as a sister to my Asberry Tinkle. Asberry was my Grandfather. Carole decended from Mary Jane Tinkle, a sister of Asberry. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Dear Nancy,

I believe your gr grfather's bro was George Washington Tinkle m. Martha Frances Benbrook. They had 7 ch. Robert, Elbert, Cora, Dollie m. Wilson, Silas, Margie and Homer. I think I can find GW Tinkle's parents, if he is your gr uncle. This might help, I'm looking for descendants on this line.

Pansy,

This could very well be a connection, if Homer was born about 1920 in AR, probably Stone Co. Homer was one of seven children born to Geo. Wash. Tinkle and Martha Frances Benbrook m. 1889, Stone Co., AR. Let me know more about Homer.

Cuz?, Bert

Pansy,

I just pulled up Homer on the SSI and he was shown to be born 1904. If he was he born in Stone Co., AR or near there I'm sure we are cousins and I would like to share info with you on this line.
