originating in the New York City area. I have
a Dominic Tivnan married to Bridget McGowan
possibly around 1890-1900. Their children
where Anna, Henry, Marie, Thomas, John(b.1900), James,
(b. 1901)Andrew(b.1903) and Eugene(b. 1914).
Any help locating these family would be appreciated.

My married name is Tivnan. My father-in-law was John Tivnan. His father, John Tivnan, immigrated to NYC from Ireland around 1925. His family was from Kilmactraney (near Boyle, Ireland) Roscommon Sligo areas. A few years ago, my husband and I had to wonderful opportunity to visit the Tivnan Homestead in Kilmactraney. It was near Lough Arrow. John Tivnan of Ireland had a sister Delia, another sister and a brother.
The all stayed in Ireland, none of them are alive today. I don't believe there are any Tivnans in Ireland.

I am a relative of the Tivnans who are mostly from the New York City area. Andrew Tivnan (1903-1936) married Helen Forster and had one child named Thomas Andrew Tivnan(1924-1997) Andrew's father was Dominic Tivnan who married Bridget McGowan who were both from Ireland and were born in the 1870-1880's. Andrew had several siblings named Anna(Burke), Henry, Marie(Oberlee), Thomas, John, James and Eugene. If any of this sounds remotely familiar, please contact me so we can chat some more.

I've just found this site and was surprised to learn that some of you were having difficulty locating Tivnan's. Although i live in England i regularily visit Ireland, and am pleased to report that all my Tivnan relatives are alive and well. To my knowledge there are at least 6 familys with the name of Tivnan living in and around the Dublin and Sligo areas. I am also lucky enough to have regular contact with all of them! My father (Brian Tivnan) is one of 7 children, and thankfully our Tivnan clan are all in fine spirits. I would be delighted if someone would reply to this message, the other Tivnans, im sure, would also enjoy the craic with some of our distant rellies! We look forward to hearing from you, and hopefully we might be able to answer some of your questions!

I am researching the Tivnan name in my family tree. I am especially interested in those who immigrated to New York City. I have Dominic Tivnan married to Bridget McGowan. I would guess they were born around 1870-1880. They had 8 children (Anna, Henry, Marie, Thomas, John, James, Andrew and Eugene). Henry was a New York City policeman. Thomas died young. Anna was married to Edward Burke. Marie was married to Henry Oberlee. Andrew was married to Helen Forster. It seems as thought the the family as one point moved to the Philadelphia area. If there's any help or clues to be had regarding these Tivnans, I would appreciate a great deal.

My Aunt Delia was born and died in Ireland. She grew up in Kilmactranee (near Boyle) and died in Dublin. She never married or had children. Would like to hear about your Delia Tivnan.

We would love to contact the Tivnans in Ireland. My Aunt Delia died a few years ago in Dublin, she was last Tivnan we knew of there. Our family was from Sligo/Roscommon, they had a home in Kilmactranee, near Boyle. Are you familiar with this info. Would love to hear more.
