Hi! I am originally from Brooklyn and now live on Long Island. From my Grandfather back, it appears all the Van Schaick men were boat Captains. My great, great Grandfather was Captain of the General Slocum that burned in the early 1900's. I would like to hear from anyone that is part of this lineage or that has information concerning my relatives. Please email me if anyone can help!

I'm trying to tie your line into mine sometime before the General Slocum. I believe I was on the phone with your father on 2/9/00. Perhaps we can help each other. Contact me if any interest along this avenue.

William; It just occured to me that you probably don't have my e-mail address, which is: I would like to discuss our mutual relationship prior to the General Slocum.

I have quite a bit of information on the Van Schaick's and our family history beginning with their trip to New Holland and the name of the ship that they sailed on. My tree begins there. If you would like to chat my e-mail address is available. Looking forward to hearing from "my family". We are quite a bunch!

To any of you in this loop. I am related via Rachel's daughter Jean who married Jonathan Morgan. I have a huge file from LDS on the Van Schaick/Van Deursen heritage back to 1367. This was submitted by Connie Wilson, whom I cannot find. Am interested in the source of her information, or whatever you might provide. Let's talk. Thanks

Thanks Dick. I'm always interested in communicating with someone new on genealogy matters. Will contact her soon. Curious how Van Schaick became your middle name, only as a matter of interest.
