Looking for info on Voytek's

I am searching for information on my grandfather's family. His name was Joseph Voytek(born 1919). He had 2 brothers and a sister: Steve, Mike(born 1913, died 1994 in Los Angeles), and Katie. I am looking for any info on there parents. All that I have been told is that his mother died when he was four(?) and his father left the kids and they were raised by their Uncle Mike Voytek. I think that my grandfather's parents came over from Czechslovakia, but I do not know their names or anything. If anyone could help me it would be greatly appreciated.

Brenda,
Sorry I can't be of much help, but just to know that your web message is effective. My father too was named Joseph Voytek. He was born in 1915. His father (Adam Voytek)came to the U.S. from Czechsolvakia when he was 12. I had heard my father mention a Mike Voytek several times. All I know is that he was a cousin of dad's and that he lived back east somewhere. My branch of the Voytek family lived primarily in Oregon. Incidentally, my older brother's youngest boy is also named Mike Voytek.

Lisa,

Well it looks like we are cousins. Could you send me any information that you have on the the Voytek's. I've been having a very hard time finding names and places of relatives. For instance, do you know Steve's parents' names? I would really appreciate anything you can give me. Thank you.

My Grandfather was from Hungary. His name was Zolton Voytek (origanlly spelled Voitec we believe.) He started out in NY and then ended up in FL. He was born 06 MAY,1917. Maybe they were related. I hope this information will help both of us. I am also trying to find out about my history. Please reply, Kimberly

Not sure if I can help at all, but I married a Steve Voytek in Miami, early 60's, brother Chuck & sister Stephanie. His father was Steve Voytek too and he had 5 brothers...at the time all these Voyteks lived in Miami. I can't remember all the brothers names, but would be happy to put you in touch with my now "ex" to see if he can help more. Just recently one of the Voytek cousins, Donnie, died unexpectedly from complications due to surgery.

Kim,
I am your cousin my father was Kenny. I have often wondered about you. I know that you have many legitimate reasons for why you have not connected with your mom but the rest of us in the family have nothing to do with the choices your Mom made. It truly runs in the family because my experience with my father was not much different from yours. When I got older I did connect with him again and he took no responsibility for his abandoning us. I later learned I was much better off for him not being in my life. I am good with that! As for the rest of the Voytek family I could not imagine my life without them. I have always stayed close. We would all like to get to know you and have you be apart of the family. You can reach me at kimgroup@bellsouth.net and my cell is 954-296-3593. Please contact me.

I am sorry that I didn't see this post earlier (it's now 2013) but hope this gets to you. I believe we share the same ancestors. My name is Rick Voytek, I am the son of Eugene Voytek (son of John Adam Voytek and brother of Steve Voytek) from Smock Pa. I have been researching the Voytek family tree from Western Pa for the past year and would love to touch base with other relatives. John and Steve's father was also named John and he, like my grandfather John Adam, is buried in the Catholic Cemetery in Smock. I hope this gets to you.
