Hi-
All these names seem really familiar to me , like Wheeler. I was born in Austin Mn. My father is Adolph Svejkovsky the son of Albin and Albie Svejkovsky. I have a fairly complete family tree somewhere. I just have to locate it. My 2nd cousin Ronnie Svejkovsky JR put it together and has also done extensive research. It would be interesting to get it from a different angle and compare.
Sincerely,
Lisa Svejkovsky

I don't know if I am directly related to this family of Cerny's but one of my great grandparent's of course was from Czechosovakia, I can't exactly remember my grandmother's name but my great grandpa was James Cerny Sr. I'm just hoping to find some different Cerny's throughout the country.

The name CERNY/CERNEY means Black and is the same as have the name SMITH OR JONES. You will have to be much more specific when trying to connect with anyone researching the name. You will need names, dates or years, places.

Where were your CERNYs in the U.S.?

I have the data. I also have information from cousin Genevieve Rowand (Katie Svejkovsky Cipra's granddaughter)that she obtained fairly recently from a genealogical researcher in the Czech Republic.

I also had been in touch with other Svejkovskys that have lived in Austin, MN (but were thought to be unrelated to us) and they are from the same area of the Czech Republic as our ancestors. I even have a couple of photos that lI think I received from Aunt Lucille (the notes in back look like they are in her handwriting) that I believe are of one of those other clans.

I am interested in knowing more about your Svejkovsky ancestors. My grandmother was Marie Svejkovsky born in 1884 in Svejkovice. Her father was Jan Svejkovsky born in 1844 in Svejkovice. Jan had two brothers, Frantisek born in 1847 and Vaclav born in 1849 both in Svejkovice. Jan's parents were Vaclav Svejkovsky and Anna Kopova. Jan's paternal grandparents were Franc Svejkovsky and Josefa Soukupova.

My grandmother Marie came to Minnesota in 1923 and lived in Hopkins. We contacted a Svejkovsky in Hopkins but they didn't think the two families (the Austin MN Svejkovsky's and our family) were related. At that time we did not have any information about my grandmother's ancestors. It sounds like both families came from the same area.

I am wondering if the other names that I have listed above have shown up in your research. I am interested in hearing about your Svejkovsky research.

Your e-mail comes at a time that I think we can both help each other. A cousin of mine was able to trace my family back to the late 1700s in Bohemia. The towns my family lived in were Trebnuska and Lhota pod Radcem.

I was in touch with other Svejkovsky families back in 1997. Thier ancestors came from the same area. If you say your family came over to Minnesota in 1923, was Marie Svejkovsky married by then? I can share with you the other Svejkovsky info. (and our family's info)

Your info. on Svejkovice is VERY intersting! I also have been in contact with a distant cousin who is leaving for the Czech Republic on Wed. and his guide/contact thinks the name Svejkovsky comes from the village of Svejkovice (which has been my suspicion since I fist did some reasearch on the name in the late 1980s). I have been unable to find it on any atlas, only Svojkovice east of Rokycany. Do you know where Svejkovice is? I did see a listing of students in a college in Beroun as coming from Svejkovice.

Also, the Svejkovskys you contacted in Hopkins were my parents. They both passed way in the past few years.

My Grandmother Marie was a widow when she came to the United States in 1923. She originally went to Lincoln Ne. to stay with her sister Josephine Svejkovsky Hazuka and from there she came to MN with my Grandfather.

From my researcher in Czech. they say that the village of Svejkovice has been changed to Svojkovice. There has been some mention in other records that my half-aunt (from my Grandmothers first marriage) was born in Rokycany and there are others who were born in Plzen.

After researching Ellis Island records, I am wondering if the Anton Svejkovsky that came to Austin MN, whose father was Frantisek, is a nephew of my Great-Grandfather Jan.

I am trying to assemble as much information as possible by mid to late summer when I will contract another research project from my researcher in Czech.
