Elberta. I wish I had that name for you. I do have the addres only for an Orphanage that must be in the same districk as the one you are searching.

Baltimore Orphan Asylum
1900 Baltimore, Md.
14 Precenct
Ward 20
ED 265/4b
N. Stricker Street, Baltimore City, Md.

If you come across these names in any of you researching, I'd be so happy, since I can't anything in any of the Orphanages in or around Baltimore for these: MUNAR and MUNNA...A Nicholas (Nickolas), Bridgett(e), James, and especially my mother's mother--Mary Agnes MUNAR or MUNNA born 1890 in Baltimore City. May's parents died and left Mary as an infant, when was placed in a Baltimore City Orphanage somewhere. Her parents were Nicholas and Bridgett and James was I think Mary's step-brother. This was new to me.
I wish you all the luck in the word on your research. So far these Orphanages have been a big challenge, maybe my biggest so far. BTW, I even wrote to at least a dozon or so in Baltimore with NO success. Baltimoe even claims that Mary's birth cert was distroyed in a fire in the early 1890's. But one of the Catholic Priests I send data to on my grandmmother Mary Agnes MUNAR/MUNNA said there was not a fire then, so whom do I believe? Howard

Maybe the answer lies in an early volume of :

"Official Directory for the Archdiocese of Baltimore." Baltimore, MD: Cathedral Foundation [etc.], 19__-__. __ vols. Title varies: 19__-1938, "Official Directory, Archdiocese of Baltimore."

I am looking for any information on a Eugene Ruley who was placed with his siblings into a German Catholic orphange in Baltimore around 1902.

Thanks for any help!

It is possible that your grandmother's birth certificate was destroyed in a fire. On February 8, 1904, there was a large fire in central Baltimore. Over 1,500 buildings were destroyed. If the records were stored in any of these buildings they probably burned.

I'm having the same fun trying to locate records for my great-grandmother who put in an orphanage in Baltimore by her grandmother. So good luck.
