Hi there

I have a record from an english census. The town is Louth Lincolnshire, and I can make out Kidgate lane as the street name at the top.

However I'm trying to work out the address for the person entry "godfrey Boulton". I can't read the entry on the third line of the addresses.

Any one Help?

I think it's "do", or ditto, i.e. Kidgate Lane, and then "Hempslocks Yd" which is probably meant to be "Hempstock's Yard", as Hempstock's Houses are mentioned in the description of the enumeration district. The number of the dwelling within the yard follows.

Thanks for the reply, does make sense now I look at it!

Just wondering if anyone would have any knowledge of that area / or any sources of historical maps ?

Kidgate still exists in Louth, but not Hempstocks yard. I'm assuming that a yard is simular to a lane ? Being in New Zealand it's not a term we hear much!
