I have a CD that contain a family interview with my great grandmother,Margaret Conder (nee Chapman)1874-1970. The recording was done on a reel to reel tape in 1965 and transfered to CD in 2008. There is a lot of background noise which makes it very hard to hear what is being said.It is possible to 'clean out' The background noise from the CD and ifso where in Australia.

Are you (or do you know anyone) a bit techy.

There's a free program called 'Audacity', that should be able to do the trick. But it will take you a bit of time if you've never attempted this sort of thing before.
