Kellits Plantaion was owned by Hon George Mckenzie.Does anyone know if there are any plantation records before 1816 or any books with info on the Mckenzie family. It would be of great help.

Hi!
My name is Nikolai McKenzie and I have recently obtained a very detailed family tree containing evidence supported here. My 7th great grandfather was George McKenzie and his son Arthur owned my 6th great grandmother, Agnes, A slave who survived the middle passage whose death records at Lanark are what led me to search the name of the plantation. I'm currently trying to fill in with historical documentation the concrete evidence I have. As it stands now, the tree traces the McKenzie family back to 1500's Scotland, George McKenzie being the first generation of the family native to Jamaica. I would love to help anyone related to this search in obtaining documents of any kind. It is our shared history and we have a responsibility to our ancestors to find the truth. If anyone would like access to the tree email me at mckenziena@vcu.edu.

Hi Brenda

My family are the Rochesters who lived on Lanark and currently own the land that was the plantation. I am looking into the history of the land and how it came to belong to the family that lived there and i wondered if you had any info that you could share?

Thanks

Mx

Dear Nikolai,

I recently came across your post and wondered if you would be so good as to share your research of the McKenzie family in Kellits, Clarendon.

My family hail from Kellits, in fact just outside Kellits in a small district called Jericho where there are a number of McKenzie families who, from appearances at least, share a common ancestry though the precise connections between the families remains a little uncertain.

I live between Birmingham and Leicester in the UK where there are representatives from various of the McKenzie families from Kellits. I look forward to your reply.

Yours sincerely

Eric McKenzie

Dear Beaverathome,

I recently stumbled across your post and wondered if you would be so good as to share your research into the Mckenzie family of Kellits and Jericho.

I am a member of the McKenzie family of Jericho. While I was born and reside in the UK my father and grandfather were both hail from Jericho. The family retain land in the area and our neighbours are fellow McKenzies though the exact nature of the relationship between us remains unclear to me hence my request.

Yours sincerely

I am a member of the McKenzie family that hail from Jericho. While I was born and reside in the UK my father and grandfather were born and grew up in Jericho. I still have aunts and uncles living in the area surrounded by fellow McKenzie families whose connection to my own family I am uncertain about hence my request.
