Surnames: Barnicle
I too am seeking information about the Barnicle family. While my grandmother was a Natick Barnicle, my grandfather was a Worcester Barnicle, and we have very little information about either family. Patrick J. Barnicle of County Mayo, the oldest of about 15 surviving children, came to this country about 1890, when he was 16 years old. He worked to bring his younger brothers and sisters over. They would come, spend
some time with him and move on. It is my understanding that the family scattered across the U.S. I do know he had a brother James and a sister Nora both of whom he met for the first time when they arrived here. He did live briefly in Cherry Valley, a section of Leicester just outside of Worcester for about 8 years. Other than that brief period of time he spent the rest of his life in Worcester where my father grew up.
I would really be interested in learning what became of the rest of the family. I understand that a few either returned to Ireland or never left. I would also be interested in learning where he came from in Mayo. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

My father, John, was born in Cherry Valley of Michael. He still lives in Worcester. My brothers, sister and I were the only Barnicles in Worcester for most of our lives. My brothers Jerry & Terry still live there, as does my sister Mary Beth (Rockwell). If you ever want to talk more about the family, let me know. I'll be happy to go through what we have, including my visit to Clairmorris, and meeting with family there.

I think I can help the MA Barnicle's with how many of you are related...My husband's great--great grandfather was Dennis Barnicle father of James Barnicle b. 1841 in County Mayo Ireland. He was married to Anne McGreal and had approx. 13 children. Their children were Thomas b.2/16/1869, Bridget b. 1870, Maria b. 1874, Cecelia b. 1875, Dennis b. 1878, Anne b. 1879, Agnes (Barnicle) Madden b. 7/12/1884, John J. b. 11/14/1881 and possibly a daugheter named Winifred. James J. Barnicle moved to the US in 1906, to Brookline, MA where another group of Barnicles sprang up. John J. is my husband's grandfather. My husband's father used to talk about visiting some Barnicle's in Natick when he was young. Also, we know that Mike Barnicle's great-grandfather and my husband's were brothers. John J. was born in Parish of Crossboyne, Claremorris, County Mayo, Ireland.

If any of you are related to any of these folks, then you are not only related to the Barnicle's of Worcester and Natick, but also to the Barnicle's of Brookline - our line of the family. Please feel free to contact me at ebmk16@aol.com to chat and give you more detail as well.

Surnames: Barnicle, Barnacle, Connors, O Connor
Mary Barnicle who married Patrick Connors and lived in Ballyglass (An Baile Glas in Irish) and a half mile away in Curlisduane is my great grandmother. They immigrated to the US in 1890 settling in Lawrence, MA. Their youngest son, my grandfather went by the name John Francis Connors in the US, and died in Michigan in 1958. I do not know if this is the same family or not but perhaps it will be of some help. You may contact me at wolventm@comcast.net
