Interesting that you are looking for a George William Blocker, as I have a George W. Blocker and a William Blocker in my family. My grandfather is Robert Lee Blocker, his father is Michoel M. Blocker, his father is James W. Blocker, his father is George Blocker II, his father was George Blocker. I have more info on all of these ancestors if you think any of them fit your puzzle.

Hi Lee
There could be a connection but George W. is as far back as I can go. He was my great grandfather. I know we came from northern Germany my guess is 1700's but I have so lttle to go on. My half settled in and around Decatur Indiana. Sorry I can't shed anymore light. Happy to visit with you. Shelley

I've spent hours trying to find connections to my Blocker family.
My mother is a Blocker. Her daddy was Robert Lee Blocker b. 5 Aug 1900. My g grandfather was Michael M. Blocker b. 1856. My gg grandfather was James Wesley Blocker b. 1819 in Illinois. His father (my ggg grandfather)was George Blocker II who died ten years after James W. Blocker was born in Missouri (Cape Girardeau). We don't know when or where he was born, but we know his father, my gggg grandfather was George Blocker as well. His father, my ggggg grandfather was ____ Von Blocker from Germany.
Discovering my Blocker roots has taken me to exploring the Wadkins families as well. We have a gggrandmother Sara Sallie Tabitha Wadkins half Cherokee b. 1782, d. 1867. She opearated a trading post at Cape Girardeau, Mo. with her husband George Blocker II. George died in 1829 at Cape G. and Sara Watkins-Blocker continued to live in Cape G. In fact she remarried a man named Gray there. Between the two marriages Sara gave birth to 4 daughters and 6 sons. The daugters names are unknown to me, but according to a monument at Cape Girardeau her sons all faught in the Civil War. their names were James Blocker USA, Michael Blocker USA, George Blocker USA, Aaron Gray USA Moses Gray CSA and William Gray CSA.
Do you suppose your George Washington Wadkins is directly related to my Sara Tabitha Wadkins?
Sara's father was Leven Wadkins and her mother was Hannah Davis, Cherokee. Hanah Davis' father was Solomon Davis, Cherokee who was probably born sometime in the early 1700's.
Here is the Readers' Digest version
Lee Paterson b. 1949
Vernice Blocker b. 1925
Robert Lee Blocker b. 1900
Michael M Blocker b. 1856
James Wesley Blocker b. 1819
George Blocker II b. ??? d. 1829 m. Sara Wadkins 1/2 Cherokee
George Blocker b. ???
???? Von Blocker b. ???
If any of this makes sense to you, please write back. I'd be tickled if you can fill in any holes.

I was just about to put all of this away again for the night when I started thinking about the age of your George Blocker. Born in 1866 means that he may be another son of James Blocker (born in Illinois)and Samantha M. Swearingen. They were married on 20 Mar 1847. I only know of one child, Michael M. Blocker b. 1856. Did he have a younger brother George born in 1866, named for his grandfather?

Dear Lee
I wsh I could answer your question but I only have history at this point of Geroge Willaim Blocker. I am still digging there is so very little family left that I can ask. Greatgrandpa may have had brothers but I'll ahve to get back to you on that. My grandfather may still have a sister or brother still alive if so maybe they can tell me.
