I'm looking for Davey/Davy from England. Information that I have is:
Ether Maroni Davey b:Nov. 5, 1876 in Salt Lake City, UT.
Charles Bryant Davey b:Feb. 18, 1832 in Saxstead, Suffolk, England.
John Davy b:Oct. 11, 1803 in Saxstead, Suffolk, England.

Would anyone have any information past that?
Thank you.

Hi david

i am a direct descendant of John Davey born at Saxtstead in Suffolk in the year 1803, he died in 1849.
He married Mary Meadows in 1823.
They were my 3 x great grandparents.
I'm afraid I haven't been able to go back any further
regarding his parents but have traced his wife's family
back a further 3 generations to 1698.
Should you require more detailed information please do
not hesitate to contact me.

Hello Peter

My husband is also a direct descendant of John & Mary of Saxtead, through their son George.

I have been a keen researcher of them for nearly 30 years and eventually found John's baptism - my eureka moment!

The Meadows have caused many of us a lot of problems in research.

So who are you descended from?
I look forward to hearing from you.

Sandra

hi Sandra.
Like you I have spent many years researching my family and I
can tell you that my great grandfather, Henry Knights
married Mary Ann Davey in 1877. Mary Ann was the daughter of
James Davey born in Saxstead, Suffolk in 1836. He was the son
of John Davey and Mary Meadows of Saxstead. I have traced the Meadows family back to 1702 when Robert Meadows married a
Mary Thranson in 1727 and lived in the village of Monk Soham.
Somehow the " s " in my family name of Knights got dropped
when I was born which made life a bit difficult when searching the past.
Would like to hear more from you or help you with more
info. should you wish to extend contact.
My best regards to you

Peter

hi Sandra
Have been looking further into my family tree records.
George Davey born 1834 and James Davey born 1836 were the
youngest of the family. Their children would have been cousins, therefore your husband and I must be something
like 4th cousins. John and Mary Davey, their parents, had 7
children, but I haven't done any research into their
families, hard enough doing my own. Have visited the various
villages in Suffolk where it all happened years ago but
there is little or no nothing to learn there.
I do know that John Meadows, Mary's father, was born in 1720
was married twice, his second wife being Sarah Knivett, and Mary was born in 1799 making him 79 at the time of her birth
My best regards

Peter

Hello again Peter

It is lovely to be in touch with you and add you to our "family history cousins". It is quite a long list now, in England, USA, Australia and New Zealand. We live in England, near Tenbury Wells, Worcestershire where we retired to a few years ago.

Where do you live? And are you in contact with June Wilson, another descendent of James?

You seem to know pretty much what we do with regards to the Meadows. We are stuck finding Robert's parentage, 'though another FH cousin has a theory which would then link us through many marriages to Catherine Middleton, the Duchess of Edinburgh !!

When I have another look at my Davey research I shall be in touch again. Just to say here that George is Ian's (my husband's) great, great grandfather; making John & Mary his 3 x great grandparents.

Do you know about Charles and the Mormons? Lots of cousins in USA.

We were lucky that I found your entry as I rarely look on the message board - serendipity.

Get back to you when I can

hi Sandra

thanks for your message. i have found only 1 cousin so far
who is related to me on the Knights side of the family,
through my 3 x Great Grandfather's brother. She lives in Sunderland and is a nurse at Newcastle Hospital.
we are in regular contact.
My link to your husband Ian is also 3 x Great Grandparents
from the other side of the family.
I live in Harlow, Essex where I have lived since 1959. I
am now retired nearing my 78th birthday, but never knew
anything about my family having been placed in the care of
Middlesex County Council Childrens Dept at the tender age of
12 days. It wasn't until I reached adulthood that I started looking into my heritage and after a great deal of work
managed to trace my mother in America when I was 46 years old. It was a bit of a shock for her when I wrote
introducing myself.
I have family out there in New Hampshire who I am in
constant touch with. My mother died some time ago and I
have visited them on 7 occasions. Will look forward to
hearing from you further in due course.
best wishes
Peter

hi david

are you still searching for information elating to the
ancestors of John Davey born 1803.
He was my 3 x great grandfather and I am descended from his
youngest son James, born 1836.
I have been unable to go further back into John's family but
I have managed to track his wife's ancestors ( the Meadows
family ) back to 1702.
Perhaps we might be able to help each other.
All very interesting.

Regards
Peter Knights
