I'd like to know the ancestry of this Mildred Farmbrough and other Farmbroughs of Shelby Co., IN who were born in VA. Thanks.

Mildred "Millie" Farmbrough b abt 1811 VA
m 11 May 1827 in Monroe Co., VA/WV to
Squire Farley b c1807 Montgomery Co., VA.

Mildred d 21 Jan 1886 Boggstown, Sugar Creek Township, Shelby Co., IN.

Mildred's brother, Benjamin appears on the 1850 Shelby Co., IN census as single, but with the following individuals in his household:

Benjamin 23 head of househole VA
William Farmbrough 89 VA
Anslin [sic] Anselem 36 VA
Mary 60 VA
Nancy 19 VA

My guess, without substantiation is a family as follows:

1. William Farmbrough b abt 1761 VA
2. Unknown Farmbrough
+ Mary b abt 1790 VA
3. Anslin (sic) Anselem b abt 1814 VA
3. Benjamin b 1827 VA
3. Nancy b 1831 VA
[the info below is not from the census.]
3. Mildred Millie Farmbrough m Squire Farley
3. Sarah Sallie Farmbrough b abt 1821 VA

Thanks.

I have the ancestory and some history of this Farmbrough family. We need to talk since I have information that you do not have and vice vera. This branch of my Fambrough family did not drop the R from Farmbrough as did all of my other families with this name in America. See www.tffa.com

William Fambrough in Monroe,GA

Dear Dave,
My great-grandfather was an African-American named William Fambrough (or Willie H. Fambrough;1930 census). He died in Los Angeles,CA. he was born in Monroe,Ga around 1867( the year changes on different reports). My problem is there was another William Fambrough born in Monroe about the same time. I found them both on the 1880 census. They both have brothers, older and younger.
My grandmother told me that the family left Georgia around 1898 because William's brother was murdered by the "klan". He was trying to organize African-Americans to vote. The klan came and dragged him behind a horse until he was dead. The told William that they would do the same to him if he didn't leave the area.
I found the family living in Lonoke,Arkansas in 1900. Later, they moved to Los Angeles,Ca. If I knew which family had a son who was killed, I would be more positive about which line I'm related to. Tenatively,I've chosen Mid Fambrough. I hope you can help. Thanks, Val Brown

I also have a record of this family in Shelby co., IN, but I was not aware of Millie. My record while Historian of the Fambrough Family Society, shows that this family branches from Thomas Fambrough, the immigrant, and is the only family to retain the English spelling of Farmbrough. We need to compare records. We also have an unproven connection to a Farmbrough family in England.
