I am researching my father's side of the family, the surnames GARRITY and MALONEY. Both families lived in Centralia, PA in the late 1800s and were of Irish Catholic descent. Sarah Maloney married Joseph Garrity and they moved to Phila. Joseph worked for the RR and died in an accident ca.1921 leaving five children: Edward, Raymond, Sally, Howard, and William (my father.) Sarah MALONEY had a sister named Alice SCHILLING who lived in Coaldale, PA. That is all the info I have. If you can help me fill in the gaps, please contact me by email.

I'm researching Garrity on my father's side. My GGGrandmother was a Garrity. She married a Maloney from County Clare, Ireland. Sorry I don't have his first name. When my GGrandfather came to the states (sorry don't know his name either)he settled somewhere on the east coast sometime near the end of the last century. My Grandfather Francis (Claude) Maloney was born in N.Y., but the family moved to Alhambra,CA when he was young. Claude married Marion Quigley whose family was originally from County Cork, Ireland.
I know that it is unlikely that we are connected -- unless Sally married a Maloney or Sarah was related to my line of the Maloney's. Let me know if any of this is likely. Thanks. -Mike

I know very little about my father's side of the family except that they settled in Pennsylvania.First in Nothumberland County (Centralia, a village destroyed by an underground mine fire)then Philadelphia.I also found Maloneys and Garritys together in Carbon County near Beaver Meadows, PA.

I am looking for anyone related to the Garrity's
of Wisconsin. They apparently came over from Ireland
around 1849. First to New York where his son Michael was
born. Edward Garrity was married to Kate Padden they are
believed to be from Sligo, Ireland. Alot of the Irish
settled in Wisconsin Garrity, Padden, Maloney etc etc
Anyone with relatives in Wisconsin Garrity or Padden please
contact me. Thank you Jill

My ancestors lived in the Watertown area - Malachi and Thomas. There is a group of Garrity's that I have some information on in the Sullivan County area that I have not been able to connect. Would love to hear from you.

To Salley Mitchell

Hi I'm Jerry Garrity, from Chicago. My greatgrandfather is Edward Gerrity (Garrity) who came to U.S (NYC) on the ship PROGRESS, arrived July 7, 1848. His wife was Catherine Ackerman Gerrity (Garrity). They arrived in NYC but I lose tract of them until 1855 in Chicago, St bridget's Parish where their children were baptised.

I'm trying to find out where in Ireland they came from. I can give to info from the 1848 date on. Some of it is sparse. Fax me if you are interested.

where Garrity's are from

Most roots of Garritys are found in Roscommon. Some were found in Sligo, Galway and Mayo counties. They were lords of Connacht under the O'Connor kings.
